Raffles, scrimmages on tap for a Friday evening of fun
A scene from last year's Meet the Dragons event.
The Pickens Dragons Football program will host its second annual “Meet the Dragons” night this Friday, August 9th at Dragons Stadium.
The event serves as a fundraiser to support all Pickens football players grades k-12. A $5 donation for adults and $3 for kids will enter patrons in a raffle for great prizes including season tickets, spirit wear, and a $100 cash prize. The first 200 people who arrive will receive a 2019 Dragons football
schedule. The event kicks off at 3:30 with the varsity inter-squad scrimmage followed by a middle school scrimmage, the Pride of Pickens Band and cheerleader performances, youth scrimmages, and culminating with the “Meet the Dragons” introductions at 7 p.m. Meet the Dragons will also feature a silent auction with lots of great prizes, a bouncy house, vendors, concessions, and BBQ benefitting Hugs for Hudson.
According to new Dragons Head Coach Jeff Nelson, “This event is a great way to get Jasper fired up for football on Friday nights. From our varsity down to our 5- and 6-year-olds, we will have every football player who wears the green and white in the same place. That’s what makes the night so special. We are looking forward to having the community out Friday night to kick off another great year of football in Dragon Nation.”
