Kay Hulsey Tippins, 79, of Jasper, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 7, 2019. Kay was born on August 25, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Austin Hulsey and Charles Whit Hulsey; brother, Charley Whit Jr.; grandmother, Florence Westbrook; aunts, Catherine Whitehead, Sue Ellen Austin, Kittye Clyde Austin, Tommie Norine Austin, Francis Alice Austin; and uncles, Ehney Magnum Ellis, Henry Ellis Austin and Kenneth Austin. She is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Mr. James Robert Tippins; children, Diane Tippins Barker of Cumming, Georgia and Terry L. Tippins of Lawrenceville, Georgia; son-in-law, Paul E. Barker; grandchildren, Matthew Tippins, Michael Tippins, Austin Barker, and Rylee Tippins.
Kay resided in and was an active member of the Bent Tree community; she worshipped at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jasper, Georgia serving the lord in numerous capacities over the years. Kay will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend who was always willing to give of herself in a caring, compassionate and selfless manner, particularly with children and those in time of need.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at noon in the Mt. Zion Sanctuary.

Paul David Spellins, 57, of Copperhill, TN, passed away on July 3, 2019, at his home. He was born in Hanford, CA to the late Henry Eugene and Hazel Ann Lambright Spellins. Mr. Spellins was a talented carpenter and really a "jack of trades". He was God fearing man who was strong in the Christian faith who was slow to anger and quick to love. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, sibling and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Rita Snow Spellins; daughters, Krista Spellins , Gina Spellins, April Spellins, Destiny Spellins; grandchildren, Destiny Spellins, Austin Spellins, Kaylie Taylor, Trinity Stuart, Luke Irons, Hannah Allen, Seanna Payne, Trent Stuart, Bo Irons and Danny Smith. Brothers Lonnie and (Cheryl) Spellins of Blue Mountain, MS.,Bradley and (Vannie) Spellins of Union Pointe, GA. Sisters, Jean Ann Spellins of Jasper, GA and Brenda and (Donnie) Mashburn of Knoxville, TN. and many other relatives and friends.

Shirley May Vogler, 95, who was a resident of Talking Rock, Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019. She was born May 12, 1924, in Wheeling, West Virginia to Lloyd and Clara Bowers.
On October 10, 1944, she married Clyde Vogler, a WWII disabled veteran. They lived in Tampa, Florida, for over 30 years before relocating to Talking Rock, Georgia, in 1977. Clyde and Shirley were married more than 51 years at which time she was widowed. Clyde and Shirley raised six children together: David, Craig, Crystal, Clydette, Holly and Amy.
Shirley loved animals and raised or fostered many rescue dogs and cats at her home in Talking Rock. She liked to feed the wild birds and watch them outside her porch. She spent time volunteering at the thrift store in Jasper and enjoyed interacting with the other volunteers and the customers. She also enjoyed traveling, riding roller coasters and rides, and spending time with her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her six children, David Vogler (Barbara) of Inglis, Florida; Craig Vogler (the late Evy Vogler) of Tampa, Florida; Crystal Stafford (Ken Spire) of Madeira Beach, Florida; Clydette Broyles (Rich) of St. Petersburg, Florida; Holly Johnson (Bruce) of Herod, Georgia; and Amy Vogler of Talking Rock, Georgia; her grandchildren, Daniel Vogler of Inglis, Florida and Laura Vogler of Frisco, Texas; Shirley Vogler and Evy J. Vogler of tampa, Florida; Decca Ray, Brienne Mays (Mike Harper) and Brittany Ray of Jasper, Georgia; her great-grandchildren, McKenzie Mays, Madison Mays, Macy Mays and Thomas Mays of Jasper, Georgia; Makayla Broyles, Caden Broyles and Dezmond White of Saint Petersburg, Florida.
Mrs. Edith Vestie Davenport Stanley, 91, of Talking Rock, died Friday July 12, 2019.
Mrs. Stanley was born June 27, 1928 in Fannin County the daughter of the late Samuel and Rosa Lee Davenport. She was a homemaker and member of the New Antioch Baptist Church. Her parents, husband, Calvin Coolidge Stanley, daughter, Brenda Rose Mulkey, granddaughter, Jessica Mulkey, 5 sisters and 5 brothers preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Arlecia and Steven Andrews, Talking Rock; sons, Charles, Don and Eddie Stanley, all of Talking Rock; sister, Effie Davis, Summerville; four grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 15th at 2 p.m. from the New Antioch Baptist Church in Blue Ridge with Rev. Phillip Green officiating. Music was by the church choir and Matthew and Kellie Davenport. Pallbearers were: Jackie Andrews, Robbie Andrews, Randy Stanley, Bud Stanley, Mitchel Stanley, Eric Moutardier .Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mr. James Junior Jones, 87 of Jasper, passed away Saturday July 13, 2019 at Pruitt Health.
Mr. Jones is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Danny Mulkey of Talking Rock; daughter, Linda Hancock of Waleska; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Ann Jones of Jasper; and one grandson, Daniel Mulkey.
Mr. Jones is preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Hall, Kate Bunch and Jewell Cribb; one brother, Bill Jones.
Visitation is Wednesday, July 17 from 8 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019 in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Buck Parker officiating.
Pallbearers: Danny Mulkey, Daniel Mulkey, Greg Jones, Phillip Jones, Jeremy Jones and Justin Mosiello.
Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens following the funeral service.

Martha “Inez” Hester, 91, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Aspen Village in Dallas, Georgia. She was born September 6, 1927 to Clyde and Drucilla Roper in Canton, Georgia. Mrs. Hester was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Acworth, Georgia.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Grady L. Hester of Dallas; sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Nancy Hester of Kennesaw, Gary and Sue Hester of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Edward Palmer of Dunlap, Tennessee; grandchildren, Dana and Rod Miller of Dalton, Wendy Hester of Alabama, Chris and Shanda Hester of Dalton, Brian and Jamie Hester of Powder Springs, Justin and Jenifer Hester of Dallas, Trey and Blayre Palmer of Dunlap, Tennessee, Dr. Travis Palmer of Nashville, Tennessee; 17 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Reverend Buddy and Mary Roper of Canton, Jimmy and Stephanie Roper of Fort Mill, South Carolina; and sister, Jane Scott of Jasper. Several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Clyde and Drucilla Roper and sister, Louise Roper.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Shady Grove Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with Reverend Thomas Wheeler, Reverend Grant Wade and Reverend Michael McPherson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
