Graveside services for Dorothy Varnum Turner, 76, of Jasper, Georgia were held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2019 at Butler City Cemetery in Butler, Alabama. Mrs. Turner passed away peacefully at her home on June 25, 2019.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Taylor Turner of Jasper, Georgia. Other survivors include her nephews, Ryan and Brent Varnum of Anniston, Alabama; niece, Laura Varnum Ryan (Geoffrey) of Edwards, Colorado; beloved great-nephew, Roanen "Buddy" Varnum; and sister-in-law, Betty S. Varnum of Anniston, Alabama.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Alice Varnum of Butler, Alabama and brother, Don Varnum, Jr. of Anniston, Alabama.
Dorothy was born June 10, 1943 in Lowell, Massachusetts. She grew up in Glens Falls, New York and her family moved to Butler in 1958. She graduated from Choctaw County High School in 1963. For the past 25 years, Dorothy and Taylor have lived at Bent Tree enjoying the beautiful mountains of north Georgia.
Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory in Jasper and Bumpers-Brown Funeral Home in Butler, Alabama.

Mrs. Sue Kirby, 80, of Talking Rock, passed away Saturday June 29, 2019 at Wildwood Health Care.
Mrs. Kirby is survived by her husband, Calvin Kirby of Talking Rock; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Tina Kirby of Florida, Dale and Ann Kirby of Jasper; sister, Patricia Yokel of Missouri; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren: several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 at GA National Cemetery in Cherokee County.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetic Association.
