Sherri Hughes


Sherri Angela "Angie" Hughes, 55, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at her home.  

Survivors include her parents, Jack and JoAnn Norton of Jasper; grandchildren, Victoria JoAnn Wright and Christian Jacob Wright; and her aunt and uncle, Vicki and Ben Kiker of Ellijay.  She was preceded in death by her daughters, Jodi Hollifield and Leah Hollifield Wright.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Fields and Mr. Ben Kiker officiating.  Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

The family accepted flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Scottish Rite Hospital in Angie's honor.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dr. John Aicher

Dr. John A. Aicher, 65, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Thursday evening, February 7, 2019 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.

Dr. Aicher was born April 19, 1953 in Easton, Pennsylvania to his late parents Donald F. and Anna Hayder Aicher. He attended college and graduated from medical school at Emory University.  John was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church and owned and operated Comprehensive Healthcare of North Georgia. 

A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church with Father Byrd officiating. A private family interment service will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his children and in-laws, Dustin and Briar Aicher of Rome, Ashley Aicher and Chris Beltran of Jasper, Brian and Allison Aicher of Canton, Natalie Aicher and Cory Brumbelow of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Carley Beltran, Melissa Aicher, and Andrew Aicher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Carol Aicher of Traverse City, MI and Gary and Sue Aicher of Virginia Beach, VA.  His special dog Tazzie also survives.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church (1908 Waleska Highway 108; Jasper, GA 30143) or to the American Lung Association (2452 Spring Road SE; Smyrna, GA 30080) in memory of Dr. Aicher.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.

Bobby Jordan

June 12, 1938 - February 12, 2019


Mr. Bobby Wallace Jordan was born on June 12, 1938 in Pickens County, where he was a life long resident.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora Belle Jordan and Clyde Venson Jordan, and his sister Carolyne Sue Ellis.

In early adulthood, he was joined in matrimony to Lorine Wendy Poole. Later life he was married to Helen Hancock for 35 years.

He is survived by daughters, Wanda Jordan Young, Wendy Lee Stanfield, Wansley Sue Wilson, Vicky Salisbury; and son, Wesley Wallace Jordan. Also, 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and five nieces and nephews.

In early years he professed his faith in Christ and joined the church. He worked in various occupations including the poultry industry and the concrete business.

In later years he enjoyed spending time with family, especially the children. He loved gardening, driving around on his golf cart and his tractor. His hobbies included whittling, watching westerns, football, and the Atlanta Braves on TV. He loved Kentucky Fried Chicken and Tia's famous home- made banana pudding.

On February 12, 2019 he went home to be forever in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Visiting will begin February 13, 2019 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be at the Town Creek Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. 

The family will accept flowers or donations to Cagle Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
