Alice Payne


Alice Lucile Payne, 87, of Jasper, Georgia passed away at her home on Thursday, September 6, 2018.

Survivors include her husband, Willis Payne of Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold and Gayle Payne of Jasper, Ray and Jan Payne of Jasper; brother, Albert Payne of Turtletown, Tennessee; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Sunday, September 9, 2018 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Corey Rich officiating. Internment was held at  2:30 p.m., at Riverhill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherokee, North Carolina.

Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper.

Kathleen Frankforther

Kathleen A. Frankforther, “Kathy”, 73, from Ellijay, Georgia passed away on September 2, 2018. 

Born in 1945 to Bobbie and Dorothy Mills, Kathy graduated from Capac HS, Mi and Port Huron School of Nursing. In 1982 she moved to Georgia where she married Don Frankforther. 

She is survived by her husband, three daughters from a previous marriage, Tina (Randy) MacIntyre of Cedartown, Ga., Tracey Lambert of Jasper, Tricia Lambert of Canton, Ga., nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and siblings Janice (Mike) McIntyre, Richard (Debbie) Mills and Greg (Bessie) Mills.

The body was cremated A celebration of life picnic will be held on September 30th at 2 p.m. at Woodstock Church Jasper. The family wishes no flowers. Instead, please donate in her memory to: Eagle Ranch, PO Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, Ga. 30502 (home for abused and neglected children.).


Thomas Eidson


Thomas Dewey Eidson,  79, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. He was born August 10, 1939 to Earl and Mildred Eidson of Bath, South Carolina.

He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He loved his grandchildren and loved the time he spent with them.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Eidson of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Tim Stark of Cumming; brothers, Peyton Eidson and Jimmy Eidson; grandchildren, Brant Stark and Cade Stark.

A memorial service was  held at 5 p.m., Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Meadows officiating.   

Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
