Lee Dunn

Mr. Lee Dunn, 87, of Jasper passed away Saturday December 16, 2017.

Mr. Dunn is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jack & Terry Dunn of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Christi & Doug Blackwell of Gainesville; grandchildren, Dereck Dunn, Brent Dunn, Nicholas & wife, Elyse Blackwell, Bethany & Husband, David Lind; great-grandchildren, Micah Lind, Eli Lind and Ridge Blackwell.

Mr. Dunn is preceded in death by his wife, Martiele Dunn.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Jasper United Methodist Church. Rev. Greg Meadows and Rev. Gerald Thurman officiating.

Pallbearers: Eddie Duncan, Mike Denson, Al Lawson, Brent Dunn, Dereck Dunn, David Lind and Johnny Cagle.

Honorary Pallbearers: John Robert Pool, James Hugh Bryan, Kirk Garner, Bob Payne, Tommy Boswell, Larry Kellogg, Jeff Patterson and Mike White.

Internment was held at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to Jasper United Methodist Church Organ fund or the National Alzheimer's Foundation

Jeanne Richards

June 14, 1927 – December 14, 2017


Mrs. Margaret Jeanne Richards, 90, of Jasper passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Rock Creek Manor.  She was born June 14, 1927 to John and Anita Goble in Jasper.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Jack Richards of Jasper and son and daughter-in-law, Rick Richards and Lori Lee Maxim of Marietta.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2017 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jeanne’s honor.

Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory.

Ruth Williams

Mrs. Ruth Williams, 88, of Ball Ground passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 15 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ted Estes, Rev. Gerald Siniard and Rev. Grant Wade officiating. Interment followed in Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  

Mrs. Williams was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church. She was a hairdresser and worked with "Meals on Wheels" for many years. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Williams.  Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Rev. James Williams; children, Lana Blanton, Daryl (Kathy) Williams, Van (Cindy) Williams and Lynn Ensley; daughter-in-law, Teresa Williams; sisters-in-law, Lila Little, Bobbie (Johnny) Brackett and Bea Williams;  8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several wonderful cousins. 

Serving as pallbearers were Clint Williams, Kyle Ensley, Jason Williams, Preston Williams, Damon Williams, Zac Williams, Hamilton Vickers and Adam Whatley.

Rachel Anglin

Miss Rachel Jewell Anglin, 45, of Jasper passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at her residence.

Rachel is survived by her mother, Jean Ann Spellins of Jasper; brother, Austin Spellins of Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Leah & Jeremiah Chapman of Chapel Hill NC, Marie & Chris Green of Ellijay and Misty & Nathan Kincaid of Atlanta;  several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Rachel is proceeded in death by her father, Jimmy Anglin

Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Jeremiah Chapman officiated.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to Cagle Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Joe Jarrett

Mr. Joe F. Jarrett, passionate fox hunter, 81, of Tate Georgia, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.

Mr Jarrett is survived by his wife, Patricia Jarrett of Tate; son and daughter-in-law, Joel Scott & Karen Jarrett of Buford; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy & Tinker Moore of Talking Rock; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy & Bobbie Jarrett of Marietta; grandchildren, Lindsie & Kyle Johnson, Trent Jarrett and Drake Jarrett; great-grandchildren, Abbie Reed, Hensley Johnson and Kaye Johnson.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 17 in the Cagle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Edward Ledford officiated.

Pallbearers: John Philyaw, Gary Jarrett, Trent Jarrett, Drake Jarrett, Gary Moore and Tim Stancil.

Internment was held at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Teresa Cochran 

January 11, 1955 – December 12, 2017


Mrs. Teresa Childers Cochran, 62, of Fairmount passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. She was born January 11, 1955 to Sherman Dolphus  and Velva Childers.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Cochran of Fairmount; daughters and son-in-law, Kristina and Kevin Crook of Ranger, Sonia Mathews of Jasper; grandchildren, Joseph Crook, Kolbi Crook, Tyler Estes, Brandon Estes; brothers, T. D. and Billie Jean Childers of Jasper, Jackie and Greta Childers of Suches; sisters, Joan Gaddis of Fairmount, Susan and Jim Parks of Jasper, Linda and Junior Higgins of Fairmount.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Padgett and brother-in-law, Butch Gaddis.

The funeral service was held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Larry Kelley officiating.  Interment was at Georgia National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to help a needy family for Christmas.  Donations can be made through Roper Funeral Home.

Claudine Hyde’s family would like to take this time to thank everyone who called, brought food or flowers or prayed for them during this time. Thank you to Pruitt Nursing Home staff for their loving care and to the doctors, nurses and respiratory staff at Piedmont Hospital who with loving kindness took care of Claudine and stood by her family until the end. Thank you to Roper Funeral Home for making a difficult time somewhat easier to bear. Thank you to the preachers including Rev. Gene Childers who said that Claudine was his oldest friend, Rev. Buck Parker, Rev. Adam Parker and Rev. Alan Caylor. Also, to the singers, a big thank you and also to sweet Michael Morris for playing the piano, and all the prayers that were prayed. Words cannot express Claudine’s legacy and love that she left for her family and friends who will dearly miss her.
