Hello, no-name. Thanks for the post on climate change. Your opinion is noted for the record. Know this, however. Since you have ignored all of the research on climate change and have chosen to agree with Al Gore and the rest of the alarmists, it is impossible to address you intellectually. You will just have to weep as the temperatures get warmer and colder as the atmosphere exchanges carbon and hope to yourself that humans all die out so that the animals can live without fear.

Obama duped the socialism loving masses, like any typical politician who has no clear ideals. you should apparently read "reasoning and arguing for dummies" because you got it flipped around on the Dede thing, and you can't even support your argument with sound reasoning. A lawyer, for example, or a politician can make a convincing argument against the facts, but you are obviously too dumb to be either. you might say "the sky is brown because I want it to be." that would be case closed for you. and that's sad. Anyway, back to Dede - a good person tries to run as a Republican, and gets forced out because the other Republicans find out she's a good person - and you call this a victory for Republicans? to me (and eventually to you when you see how badly the Republicans lose the elections in NY because of this issue) that shows the democrats are stronger than ever. if the Republicans are that scared of other white people (Democrats) then they really are doomed. I love how the liberals spin Ford's earnings as proof that the government should continue to bail out the private sector. The truth shall set you free:
The earnings came despite an $800 million revenue drop. But Ford said it cut costs by $1 billion during the quarter, accomplished through layoffs in North America and Europe, reduced pension and retiree health care costs and improvements in productivity and product development.
Ford also has benefited from consumer goodwill after it declined government bailout money and didn't go into bankruptcy over the summer as GM and Chrysler did. Ford grabbed sales from its rivals, posting the largest increase in market share of any automaker in September. Ford expects an overall gain in U.S. market share in 2009, a feat it hasn't accomplished since 1995.
This is how you make a profit in the Obama economy: CUTS. Ford further says it does not see Cash For Clunkers as what pushed it into a profitable 3rd quarter:
"Ford didn't quantify the impact of Cash for Clunkers, which offered buyers rebates to trade in their vehicles. The program helped Ford cut costly incentives and raise production. It also won buyers; the Ford Focus and Ford Escape were among the top five sellers in the program. Ford sales were up 17 percent in August thanks to the program.".
Again, what the program did was squeeze 2 quarters of auto sales into the 3rd quarter. The residual effect is diminished inventories (Have you seen the empty car lots?) due to cuts in production before the program and the lag in the system from production to delivery. No jobs were created, even. In fact, government (Which means taxpayer money, for all the idiots in the world), just made it possible for Ford to become lean in the short term. Since they are the only automaker to NOT get a bailout, they were able to turn a profit. GOOD FOR FORD!
If you need any further explanation of supply and demand principle (yes, YOU!) please let me know. I will be happy to explain it in terms that are easy to understand, for even the most simple Democrat.

cooch - wow. Have you been on a drinking binge? Sounds like you've been hitting something a lot harder than kool aid in that last post ..... I'm guessing, genius, that the reference is to Jim Jones and the Jonestown massacre, wherein hundreds of followers killed themselves via use of a posioned drink (i.e., the "kool aid").
Blind allegiance to the good "Reverend" led them to do this. Thus, that reference to "drinking the kool aid" has come to mean those who blindly follow a "leader" without a will of their own. While I could in fact draw a comparison to the Messiah Obama phenomenon, that by itself is not racist. The term / reference certainly isn't.
I can't imagine what the hell you're talking about being racist about that. But then, most of what you prattle on about doesn't make a lot of sense.

Let me see if I have this right: Obama says he is postponing any decision regarding Afganistan (while it was the deadliest month for our troops), until the election is over to "see what kind of government we will be dealing with" as if that really matters in what is supposed to be a war against terrorists. Then There was a mandated runnoff due to election fraud (Does Acorn operate there, too?) Then Abdullah Abdullah abandons the runoff to protest the fraud, the government declares Hamid Karzai the victor, and Obama sends letters of congrats to Karzai! How is that so far?
Now what in the world did any of this have to do with the troop requests that McKrystal made months ago? What happened to the resolve from Obama's campaign to make Afg our greatest priority? Patton said a war worth fighting is one worth winning. If there is no desire to win, why are we still there.

Rut roh, Ford sales were helped by the cash for clunkers program which helped them make $873 million in profit for the quarter.
from CNN.Money this morning..
Excluding special items, Ford reported a profit of $873 million, or 26 cents a share, in the period. Analysts had been forecasting a loss of 12 cents a share for the quarter on this basis. Ford said it was the first pre-tax operating profit since the start of 2008.
Results in North America were also helped by much stronger sales than a year earlier, particularly in the United States, where the company was one of the prime beneficiaries of the Cash for Clunkers program that gave buyers up to $4,500 if they traded in a gas guzzler for a more fuel efficient vehicle.
Imagine that, Ford had not shown a profit since the start of 2008, then the interferring, big government, institutes a program to help boost auto sales and save the automobile industry and Ford makes a profit. My, my, my.

For those who believe I credit "misleading" or twisted references, This information regarding the GDP is from The Complete Idiot's Guide to Economics © 2003 by Tom Gorman:
All Together Now: C + I + G
Consumption by consumers, investment by businesses, and government spending are the three major parts of our economy and of most economies. (Foreign trade, conducted by exporters and importers, is the remaining sector, which I'll discuss soon.)
The size of a nation's economy is the total value of the spending on goods and services in the nation in a year. This spending occurs in the form of transactions within and between these three sectors. The flip side of this spending is production, because you can buy only what has been produced. So we can also measure an economy based on its production. Therefore, when you add up all of these transactions—and the value of foreign trade—the result is gross domestic product, or GDP. The formula for GDP is: • GDP = C + I + G + (Ex - Im) Gross Domestic Product is the sum of all spending on goods and services in a nation's economy in a year. The formula for GDP is: GDP = C + I + G + (Ex - Im), where “C” equals spending by consumers, “I” equals investment by businesses, “G” equals government spending and “(Ex - Im)” equals net exports, that is, the value of exports minus imports. Net exports may be negative.
Subsidies are transfer payments to assist industries that benefit the public, but might not survive or remain stable if operated for profit without subsidies. Farm products and rail transportation are subsidized in most modern economies.
The parts of the formula are simple: • C = total spending by consumers • I = total investment (spending on goods and services) by businesses • G = total spending by government (federal, state, and local) • (Ex - Im) = net exports (exports - imports)
Of course, since consumer spending has been in the tank for the past FEW YEARS, and accounts for 65% of the GDP, and businesses are not expanding (investment in business=expansion. Unemployment is still growing and inventories are extremely low) AND the United States has a trade deficit (import more than we export), Government spending (CARS, STIMULUS) alone resulted in an inflated GDP growth in the 3rd quarter 2009. What CARS did was squeeze 4th quarter sales into the 3rd quarter, at a huge expense to the taxpayer.
Doom and Gloom? Hard to be roses and daffodils when you are intelligent enough to understand the truth behind the numbers the government feeds you.

The GOP needs real Reagan conservatives, and needs to stop embracing so-called moderates. Moderates, and left-leaners are why we are in such a mess as it is. I believe this will be the trend in the next few years: a shift back to real conservatism, and rejecting leftist radicalism.

For everyone interested, especially the global-warmers out there, familiarize yourself with what is the definitive global warming study. Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT gathered data for decades. Some relavant details of the study reveal:
The global surface temperature record, which we update and publish every month, has shown no statistically-significant “global warming” for almost 15 years. Statistically-significant global cooling has now persisted for very nearly eight years. Even a strong el Nino – expected in the coming months – will be unlikely to reverse the cooling trend.
More significantly, the ARGO bathythermographs deployed throughout the world’s oceans since 2003 show that the top 400 fathoms of the oceans, where it is agreed between all parties that at least 80% of all heat caused by manmade “global warming” must accumulate, have been cooling over the past six years. That now prolonged ocean cooling is fatal to the “official” theory that “global warming” will happen on anything other than a minute scale.
"There are only a couple of conclusions to be made of this. Either the world has been misled by scientists working for the UN and IPCC due to faulty science, or faulty science has been deliberately used in a global scheme to generate tax revenues for the Governments instituting Cap and Trade Taxation policies.
Either way, the world has been the victim of some very bad science. The results of which can be seen in drastically reduced GDP in countries with the Cap and Trade laws in place, as well a a 5 - 10% decrease in standard of living for those citizens living there all with little or no effect on emissions globally.

Rob,
I found this in a NY Times article from June 2009 and think you may want to read it since you seem to have a minority of only 500 (out of 60,000,000 scientists) scientific opinions on global warming (and NO FACTS TO DISPROVE IT)
In April 2008, environmental journalist Richard Littlemore wrote that a bibliography written by Dennis Avery and posted on Heartland’s Web site, titled "500 Scientists with Documented Doubts of Man-Made Global Warming Scares,” included at least 45 scientists who neither knew of their inclusion as "coauthors" of the article, nor agreed with its claims regarding global warming. Dozens of the scientists asked the Heartland Institute to remove their names from the list; for instance, Gregory Cutter of Old Dominion University wrote, "I have NO doubts... the recent changes in global climate ARE man-induced. I insist that you immediately remove my name from this list since I did not give you permission to put it there." Dr. Robert Whittaker, Professor of Biogeography, University of Oxford wrote "Please remove my name. What you have done is totally unethical!"
It quoted Dennis Avery saying “Not all of these researchers would describe themselves as global warming skeptics,” said Avery, “but the evidence in their studies is there for all to see.” Heartland’s president, Joseph Bast, wrote “They have no right -- legally or ethically -- to demand that their names be removed from a bibliography composed by researchers with whom they disagree. Their names probably appear in hundreds or thousands of bibliographies accompanying other articles or in books with which they disagree. Do they plan to sue hundreds or thousands of their colleagues? The proper response is to engage in scholarly debate, not demand imperiously that the other side redact its publications.”
Rob, I guess your best source is tainted and inaccurate. Give me some real facts to prove the opinion of a minority of the scientific community!

I should have been an economics major. This is basically what I posted yesterday regarding the false GDP growth:
"University of Maryland economist Peter Morici says the White House has it backward.
"The Fed is much more responsible for the improvement in the economy than the stimulus.
Three-point-five percent is a terribly deceptive number. A good deal of that was Cash for Clunkers, which won't repeat. We're probably going to be growing at 2 to 2-and-a-half percent a year going forward and that's not enough to bring down unemployment. We should really have a number of 5% or 6% coming out of a recession like this. That's the norm, this means the economy is not healthy at all."
Consumer spending decreased last quarter and inventories are way down. The only significant spending done last quarter was by the federal government. And that was debt spending, which is killing the dollar. The white house is giving you fake, BS numbers to persuade people who can't read into believing the economy is improving.

Hey Pinto,
According to a Rasmussen Reports national survey from April 2009:
Asked whether capitalism or socialism is a better system, 53% of American adults cited capitalism, 20% said socialism and 27% said they weren't sure.
In other words, most people do not prefer socialism as you would have us believe. So, 20% is a majority? Maybe in the bizzarro world. And 27% of people are just clueless. That's equally frightening.

Hi Pinto,
Please feel free to read the senate minority report on climate change.

I poeted this several days ago. It includes studies and scientific opinion referenced from over 700 scientists from around the world. I posted a few here that I randonly selected from the report, but you can read them all. Inclused are notable experts from NASA, for example. Be sure to tell me how many times you need me to re-post the link to the report.
You are such a loon.

Pinto...you are amusing. So how did you figure out that the majority of Americans actually want a shift to socialism? Top secret sources? The invisible man that talks to you? Someone from your planet sending you messages?

Rob, spending 3 billion dollars on new cars for people, as well as, $8,000 for new houses does tend to help the GDP look good. However, it is like buying a new car when your credit cards are maxed beyond the limit. It feels good for a couple days then it hits you. You've seen neighbors do that and you wonder how? Then you see those same people go bankrupt from being over extended. This country is over extended and it is a mater of time. For Obama to brag about this only shows how willing he is to mislead the public. Watch what happens here soon....this country has big money problems yet Obama continues to drive us deeper in a hole. You simply can't tax your way to prosperity.

Pinto...great, can you make us all a list of the states you refer to? Post them and we will all review it for correctness. Include the %'s as well.
Also, your right about Obama getting the votes, mistakes do happen although we usually get it right by voting for something other than a liberal over the years. I'm betting that in 2010 and 2012 your turn will be up and everyone learned their lesson. Nopw go do your homework.....don't forget to take those meds.

Lucy,
With all due respect, we discuss the points you raised very often, and have done so for over a year now. At least as long as I've been participating.
As far as the Edmunds report, do a search on it. It explains the percentage of car sales that were simply normal seasonal sales and would have occurred anyway, regardless of the CARS program. You can't count those sales as net attributed to the government program: people buy cars anyway. Of course the gov. counts every car sold during the program as growth. A significant number of sales were a given, those sales just profitted from "free" tax incentives. Some sales were arguably triggered solely by the CARS program, and those sales CAN be counted. However, GM is still set to receive another bailout because their sales are still flat. Ford didn't get bailed out, and their sales are growing. Government intrusion does not help, it only makes companies like GM, flat and consumptive.

actually, the majority of people in this country support a shift to socialism. obama promised as much in his campaign for black president, and an overwhelming majority of people still voted for him. in fact, fewer people like him now because he is not as socialist as he promised he would be... jeep - still you don't make any sense. what is so bad about everyone being on govt health insurance if the govt shows it can provide better access to better health care than any private insurers can now? oh thats right - because it would lead to healthier and longer living black people... NonVet - there, there. "free loading liberals"? might I remind you that red states (Republican states) as a whole have far higher portions of their populations on welfare, food stamps, and general assistance than the blue (liberal) states? Robot - no, its true - you haven't posted any evidence that global warming is not happening. you just want to shoot the messenger. and three "scientists" contradicting the rest does not prove the absence of a consensus that it is really ahppening. you "weren't afraid of the Iraqi guard"???? that's because you were a member of the Iraqi guard!!!! Idiot!!!!

I thought it interesting that yestterday the white house claimed an economic victory using the false GDP numbers. They based the 3.5 on what they say is the success of cash for clunkers. Today, the white house took a hard turn and touted the recovery act as being the main factor of economic growth. Remember 2 weeks ago the white house economic advisor reported the stimulus was a "bust". Apparently they didn't get the memo that the US has lost 3.5 million jobs since the recovery act was signed.
