Hummm It appears that ACORN cannot sue FOXNews or anyone, in the state of Maryland since their "Authority of Corporation" was revoked on November 14, 2008. It is not in good standing with the state of Maryland. Damn the luck I bet they are thinking about now...

In other words... ACORN is operating illegally in the state of Maryland.

From Chooch: "More false statements from you Rob? There is absolutely nothing in military regulations that forbids personnel from taking part in any legal political process, in support of candidates or a party or otherwise, to include non-violent protests.. The only regulations requirement is that it not take place while in uniform. Where do you come up with this garbage?"

What is my current list of false statements up to according to you?

From Navy Regs (Office of the Naval Inspector General):
"When acting in their official capacity, service members may not engage in activities that associate the Navy with any partisan political campaign or election, candidate, cause, or issue.

Active Duty personnel shall not organize or manage political campaigns, events or conventions even in their personal capacity."

This is the section which, like I said is similar in nature and language as it pertains to nonprofit organizations. I didn't say Acorn has anything to do with the wearing of a uniform. I said the 501c tax exempt status has similar prohibitions to the DOD's restrictions. We could not rally for a cause or campaign while representing the US (by virtue of the uniform) and LIKEWISE a 501c group cannot rally or campaign as a representative of itself (Acorn).

Hopefully that explains it. I know you were there as I was. Please know that I know my own regs.

One thing very evident lately, Liberals can sure dish it out...but they can't take it. I applaud Joe Wilson for standing up to a lie. The time comes when one must speak out and he did just that. I hope more follow him until this government gets cleaned up and back on track to the America we once knew and loved. I think ACORN is about to be history and more to come from what I hear.

On the subject of Joe Wilson and his "you lie" comment, our very own GA Rep had this to say today:

"In an obvious reference to the KKK, Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., said Tuesday that people will put on "white hoods and ride through the countryside" if emerging racist attitudes, which he says were subtly supported by Wilson, are not rebuked. He said Wilson must be disciplined as an example. "

He isn't the only liberal to pull the race card today:

New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd wrote in her column Sunday that Wilson's outburst convinced her that racial angst is the underlying motive among Obama critics like Wilson.

"I've been loath to admit that the shrieking lunacy of the summer ... had much to do with race," she wrote. "But Wilson's shocking disrespect for the office of the president -- no Democrat ever shouted 'liar' at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq -- convinced me: Some people just can't believe a black man is president and will never accept it."

I am sometimes in disbelief that educated people could call someone a racist for disagreeing with the president's statements. I am appalled that Hank Johnson would invoke the KKK during this situation.

I thought some of you might find this interesting during all this Acorn mess. It explains a little about how Acorn's many affiliates and susidiaries are connected and funnel money around, in addition to setting up brothels with teenaged hookers they have a well-established link to the president:

Founded in Arkansas in 1970, ACORN long has been considered a political ally of the Democratic Party. It has received praise from leading Democrats, such as Howard Dean and former President Bill Clinton, for its community activism, especially regarding efforts to increase housing for low-income people and restoration work after Hurricane Katrina.

Early in his career, Obama worked as an organizer for Project Vote, an ACORN offshoot, and represented ACORN in legal actions, according to various published reports, including Associated Press articles. ACORN's political action committee endorsed Obama in the primary.

The organization has sparked controversy.

Accusations of voter fraud have followed ACORN's canvassing projects in about a dozen states. ACORN has dismissed the charges as politically motivated allegations from conservative groups, yet cases are pending and, in other cases, ACORN workers have entered guilty pleas. For example, three ACORN workers pleaded guilty to submitting phony voter registration forms in Washington, and eight ACORN employees pleaded guilty to federal election fraud in Missouri.

ACORN is at the center of a scandal involving a $1 million embezzlement by Dale Rathke, brother of ACORN founder Wade Rathke. ACORN discovered the embezzlement in 2000 but did not alert law enforcement officials.

ACORN's management committee instead negotiated an agreement to have the Rathke family repay the stolen funds, according to a report in The New York Times. The Rathke brothers resigned from ACORN this summer after news reports disclosed the embezzlement. A donor agreed to repay the most of the money, the Times reported.

Sunday Alabi, an ACORN activist and spokesman in St. Paul, is one of CSI's three-person board of directors. Alabi described CSI as a nonprofit consulting firm related to ACORN.

"I do not know the day-to-day work of what they do. I'm on the board," Alabi said, referring other questions to Robinson, the executive vice president.

Robinson said CSI is a "not-for-profit political and campaign management firm, much like any political consulting firm."CSI is not tax-exempt under any IRS code, he said. Without tax-exempt status, the organization isn't bound by IRS restrictions for nonprofits on political activities.

"We have a wide range of clients. We provide political campaign management. We provide field services," Robinson said. "Our clients are typically considered liberal. Our clients are labor unions, liberal to progressive candidates, nonprofit organizations on the liberal side of the political spectrum."

In 2006, CSI collected all the signatures and managed successful statewide ballot measure campaigns in Missouri, Ohio, Colorado and Arizona to increase the minimum wage, he said. "We have a good reputation. We provide good services."

Regarding CSI's nonprofit status, Robinson said: "We are organized specifically not to make money, but we make money. There are no profits. We have a staff of 60 people around the country, and that eats up our entire profit. We're not a for-profit corporation, but we are not a group like a United Way."

CSI is a "separate organization entirely" from ACORN, he said.

"ACORN is a client of ours," Robinson said. "ACORN has a lot of different partner organizations. We are a partner, but we are separate."

Robinson is listed on several Web sites as national deputy political director for campaigns and elections at ACORN. He is also listed as political director at the nonprofit Communities Voting Together and as a consultant at Project Vote. He did not return phone calls or an e-mail request for a follow-up interview.

Money flows back and forth between ACORN, Citizens Services Inc., Project Vote and Communities Voting Together. ACORN posts job ads for Citizens Services and Project Vote. Communities Voting Together contributed $60,000 to Citizens Services Inc., for example, in November 2005, according to a posting on CampaignMoney.com. Project Vote has hired ACORN and CSI as its highest paid contractors, paying ACORN $4,649,037 in 2006 and CSI $779,016 in 2006, according to Terry of the Consumers Rights League.

NamVet, this is typical response from liberals re: Acorn and crime in general. It's always someone else's fault, whether the whistleblowers, the media, Fox News, or society in general, usually white men (remember, according to Van Jones and Pinto white men are poisoning the black community-- when in reality those elected leaders in inner cities have been democrats for the past 100 years)

There is always a blame game and a concerted attempt to turn blame around and place it on someone else. Well, if I get E-Coli from eating a burger at Wackyburger, typically the chain has a problem, not necessarily the person who flipped my cheeseburger. It is worth noting that a year ago one of Acorn's own attorneys admitted there may be some undefendable issues with their nonprofit tax status.

Liberals have a "shut up if you are not one of us" attitude. A culture of takeover--"it's ours now!" instead of just being Americans who want their country back.

Pinto to be fair I will use a word that is popular among liberals. I may have mis-stated the venue in which Harry Reid called Bush a liar. I saw it in a news story and I guess I posted the wrong link.

The fact is, however, that it is a violation of congressional rule to call any president a liar. It is also against the law for a member of congress to accuse the CIA or lying to congress without proof. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi both committed these offenses. Doesn't matter what venue or forum. So you have proven my point for me: laws are meant only for republicans to follow. Liberals get a pass.

I am big enough to admit I was wrong about the venue-for as much as I can tell. You still play the same old liberal doublespeak games. Why don't you just move to a real socialist country where you might be more comfortable and stay the hell out of American politics.

Here's how Acorn gets around tax laws... since they are a 501c3 nonprofit they use "affiliate" branches of Acorn to engage in political campaigns. According to the IRS:

Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office. Contributions to political campaign funds or public statements of position (verbal or written) made on behalf of the organization in favor of or in opposition to any candidate for public office clearly violate the prohibition against political campaign activity. Violating this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of certain excise taxes.

The law simply mandates that any monies received in the form of profit have to be declared to the IRS. I would love to see that document!

So, under their political arm, they have dozens of workers arrested and convicted of voter registration fraud. Under the nonprofit arm, videotaped evidence of tax fraud, HUD housing fraud and criminal activity related to accessory to prostitution.

Hell these guys are as prolific as the mafia!

This is the kind of lie that we have heard for years from Acorn. Keep in mind that Obama worked for (and trained) Acorn in Chicago. They have 350 affilliate groups, offices in 120 cities and campaign solely for the democratic party. Though, as a 501c3 nonprofit organization, they are by law prohibited from engaging in partisan political activity (similar to laws prohibiting military members from participating in political campaigns).

ACORN Housing Corporation received $1.6 million to provide housing services to low-income communities in this fiscal year, ending Sept. 30, according to USASpending.gov, a federal government Web site for tracking government grants.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development Grants has given $8.2 million to ACORN in the years between 2003 and 2006, as well as $1.6million to ACORN affiliates.

Chooch; 9/12/2009 2:19:39 PM: "Newsflash, peeps: ACORN does not receive federal grants. It also does not receive—and will not receive—any of the "bailout money." Would you care to think about this statement and try again?

Acorn, who said on Friday that they had fired the housing employees in the video tape offering assistance to a pimp and his hooker who sought governemnt home loan support and tax assistance, and that those workers do not reflect Acorn or its policies.

Today, Acorn appears to have reversed that stance and threatens to sue the filmmaker who shot the videos, and any news outlet that aired them. Acorn calls the video taped incidents a fabricated "scam". It keeps getting better. If it was fabricated, why did they terminate 4 otherwise innocent employees in the wake of the video evidence?

ACORN receives federal money through the affordable housing trust fund after that money has been sent to states and local governments. So Congress, to keep the group from getting money, would need to specifically forbid ACORN from being eligible to get federal funds.

"ACORN Fair Housing is a federally funded program through the Office of Housing and Urban Development’s(HUD) Fair Housing Initiatives Program ( FHIP) grant.

ACORN Fair Housing, while an independent organization , has it’s beginnings as part of ACORN, a 38 year old community activist organization."

In 2004, Democrats delivered a “Chorus Of Boos” during Bush’s Bush’s State Of The Union when he called for renewal of the Patriot Act., according to the Washington Times.

In 2005, Dems howled, hissed and shouted “No!” when Bush pushed for Social Security reform in the SOU: “Foreshadowing the contentiousness of the coming debate, Democrats broke decorum and booed twice,” according to the National Journal.

At the time, CNN’s Bill Schneider remarked, “It was unusual. I had never heard it at least at that level before. The Democrats clearly were booing, heckling, saying no when the president talked about the crisis in Social Security.”

Rob, I agree that it is a shame to see a famous name trashed.

Pinto, yes I served and yes I am for real and yes I have the medals to prove it. You, however, can't say the same thing so eat your heart out. Acting like your Bozo is about as good as it will ever get for you.

Joe Blow, I agree with you 100% Vote them out and keep them out.

Marine...^5 brother! I was trying to calm down a post on here about us being "baby killers." Can't be too careful as some on here have not always taken their meds.

Acorn lost again...great news!! And since they we're not getting "federal funds" they shouldn't mind. Now I want them to file charges on the film makers so we can go after them even harder. As Clint said it,"make my day." Take your meds chooch.. your not doing well at this.

It's the truth instead of some made of crap or parroted party rhetoric. You numbskulls have some nerve saying there is no convincing me. Your right, when you don't know what the hell your talking about. You definately can't convince me.

Newsflash, peeps: ACORN does not receive federal grants. It also does not receive—and will not receive—any of the "bailout money." The idiots making the claims of 8 billion in federal funds going to ACORN are as usual just full of shit and making false claims about things they have no clue of. What ACORN does get, like a lot of other non-profits, is subcontracts from other government contractors for specific services. Most of these kinds of contracts should be looked at more coldly—but it's not like ACORN is getting showered with millions of dollars just for registering voters. ACORN has also gotten money from banks, mainly by suing or threatening to hold up mergers. The group historically has noted violations of the Fair Lending Act and other scams big banks have perpetrated on regular people (scams that state and federal regulators routinely ignore), and has basically shaken the banks down for payoffs. The organization supposedly spends that money on low income housing and on advocating on behalf of poor people so that they can get housing. This too is worth investigating, auditing, debating, etc. But it's not "taxpayer funding" and it long predates any bailouts. You people need to get an education about things before you even think about correcting me. I know what I am talking about and don't just make up crap because it suits my perspective and I want people to "THINK" I know what I am talking about. You Rob, Marine, Ed, NamVet, you don't know what your talking about. You are only parroting other crap you heard or read without checking the facts. I guess it is because your just too smart to actually research something. When you people actaully have some facts time will stop for all eternity.

Here here! ACORN has been fired from their role in conducting the 2010 census. The Census Bureau terminated their relationship due to their "partisan campaign efforts and illegal activity".

Standing up for what is right does have an effect after all. Acorn remains steadfast in their belief that they are a victim of a "smear campaign", as if anyone would be surprised by that statement. Hopefully this will trigger, finally the congressional investigation that Senator Conyers called off and the government will stop payment of the $8.5 billion stimulus money they are getting.

NamVet, I spent 18 months in the jungle and I've never heard of "carding the cong prior to fighting them". I'm not sure how that would work as we were forced to take down some pretty heavily armed under-aged students of war. Anyway, I applaud you for that, wish I'd had the time over there to think of that.

Chooch,

It's true. I was a member of the paramilitary group (Boy Scout troop 666) and we used to just sit around planning how to take over the US through the "badge system". There's a little known secret that if you can take over your town you become a "bear scout".

Chooch you have a dry sense of humor. I needed that laugh tonight as my Father-in-law, John Carlsby, died last night up in KY. He was 91 and a Army veteran of WWII.
