Jeep, I did read that story and you are absolutely right about the county rec. fees. The fee is designed to provide for those pays you mentioned. I'm not surprised of the use of the term "stimulus" anymore. It has become synonymous with the word “spend”. Left out of the article is where the monies for these items will have to come from. This school board needs an enema, it is time for a change.

I just want to expose some of the administration's lies put forth regarding the stimulus. These are just the cases in Georgia that have come to light so far...
Douglas, Ga. GA Officials at East Central Technical College “said they now know they shouldn't have claimed 280 stimulus jobs linked to more than $200,000 to buy trucks and trailers for commercial driving instruction...The 280 were not jobs, but the number of students who would benefit...”
Moultrie GA The Southwest Georgia Community Action Council claimed to have saved 935 jobs with the $1.3 million it received, even though only 508 people work there. In fact, the group used most of its grant to give raises and now says it created 9.35 jobs.
Augusta, Ga. GA "[T]he Central Savannah River Area Economic Opportunity Authority in Augusta reported saving 317 jobs. But that represents the number of Head Start workers who received 2.3 percent raises from the stimulus funds."
Augusta, Ga. GA "An Augusta agency reported creating 68 jobs even though the work has not started yet."
-AP
This is just the beginning! This week, The Detroit Free Press reported that Obama’s stimulus package has “created or retained virtually no jobs” in Michigan, despite $1.2 billion in federal spending and the administration’s report that it created or retained 22,500 jobs in that state. (Michigan's unemployment rate is currently 15.3%)
I have had enough of this 'hope and change'.

You can't make this stuff up, folks:
Combing through the data on the $18 million Recovery.gov website you’ll find tons of Obama stimulus success stories from across the country. In Minnesota’s 57th Congressional District, 35 jobs have been saved or created using $404,340 in stimulus funds. In New Mexico’s 22nd Congressional District, 25 jobs have been saved or created using $61,000 in stimulus cash. And in Arizona’s fighting 15th Congressional District, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending.
What could possibly be wrong with this picture? NONE of these districts exist! Not one. Not to mention that the people required to input the data that Obama uses to praise the stmulus act are routinely "making it all up", because there is NO metric on earth that can validate a "job saved". Remember, the act cost us $787 Billion, and the website cost us $18 Million. The recovery.gov administrator, and the white house stand behind these numbers, though they are fabricated!

Guard, thanks for at least understanding. It all just comes down to the issue of basic respect for people. We don't have to like the other's point of view or personal ideology, but there is just no sense in elevating ideological differences to a level that involves threats of violence or legal action. It's just plain stupid. Causing someone to have to open their checkbook or feel concern for their family's sense of security over political discussion? Just complete nonsense, and we should all be beyond it by now.
I believe we can all agree that basic human respect can go a long way and we should all try very hard to practice it. I do appreciate your statements to clarify your thoughts on the privacy issue. I don't presume to enjoy the privacy I had just 2 months ago in this forum, but oh well, that is something I can live with at this point.

CitizenJane, ALL judges abuse their power to one extent or another...it's a disease called "black-robe-itis", and it is, unfortunately, almost universal among those so cloaked, with VERY few exceptions (locally Rodney Gibson comes to mind as, apparantly, immune to the disease).
If you don't think black-robe-itis is universal, try using the state constitutionally approved defense of "jury nullification" in a courtroom and you'll be found in contempt. Judges HATE that the GA constitution gives the jurors the right, indeed the obligation, to judge both fact and law...most judges think only THEY are smart enough to judge the law.
No...Harry Doss was the one caught not because he was unique in his abuse of power, but because he is unique in that he is too stupid to even attempt to hide his stupidity and egomaniacal-ism...he wears those attributes on his sleeve like badges of honor, especially the stupidity part. I think he actually revels in being dumber than dirt...it appears that way anyway.

Hey guys. I'm new here and I just have one question. Is this a public message board for the community or a personal verbal diarrhea forum? Come on, get a life?? On to the news...Judge Doss...why was he the only judge to be singled out? Isn't it kind of public knowledge that many judges (yes, even more here in our own little slice of paradise) misuse their power? My humble opinion is the JQC and the GBI needs to clean house. Will that fix the problem? Probably not, but at least it might take the new guys a little time to let the power go to their heads. Now am I saying ALL judges are corrupt, power-hungry, immoral baffons? Of course not, just most. (LOL) The big question here as I see it is how does his unethical behavior affect the past cases he has set on? Will innocent men actually get to go free??? Will the guilty finally come to justice??? Again, probably not...but hey, we all can hope. I have to be mean and post some funnies... Q: What do you call a lawyer with an I. Q. of 50? A: Your honor A good lawyer knows the law; a great lawyer knows the judge. (I think this one might hit a little close to home for some.) Hope you all have a good evening.

“There are limits to the First Amendment – The old adage “free speech doesn’t mean that you can shout “fire” in a crowded theater” applies here. You cannot just preface a libel with “in my opinion” (i.e. IMHO, John murdered three people). The most common defense in a false light action is to claim First Amendment freedom of speech, but the courts are quite clear about offering no protection for false speech: "false speech, even political speech, does not merit constitutional protection if the speaker knows of the falsehood or recklessly disregards the truth."
You would foolishly open yourself to countersuits. Or, as I mentioned, we can just be big boys about the whole thing.
And Guard, your mission to expose my address and real name are also illegal. I, as everyone does, have protections under the law. This (U.S. Supreme) Court has approved the following as a fairly comprehensive definition of what constitutes an actionable invasion of the right of privacy:
The unwarranted appropriation or exploitation of one’s personality, the publicizing of one’s private affairs with which the public has no legitimate concern, or the wrongful intrusion into one’s private activities, in such manner as to outrage or cause mental suffering, shame, or humiliation to a person of ordinary sensibilities.
Both you and Chuck have been dabbling in dangerous territory by seeking and spreading to other parties, information about me that places my reputation in a bad light. Please know that I will defend myself legally. I suggest you both give serious consideration to your actions.

Another analysis of defamation law by an attorney:
"If someone wrote an email that was defamatory toward you and sent it to anyone other than you and it was passed on to others, a defamation action against the author could succeed.
If someone wrote an email that was defamatory toward you and you shared it with someone other than your attorney and the author did not share it with anyone, then a defamation action against the author should not succeed."
I never had the slightest thought about suing someone. However, the person who committed the threats via email, and now disseminates his own emails ruins his own case. Note that in GA the plaintiff has the burden of proving actual malice. In this case, I would have to have had had malicious intent when posting emails. The fact is, my intent was to mitigate the defamation of my own character in the form of the falsehoods being spread about me, regarding making character-based decisions (that were maliciously characterized by several posters) as a direct result of my being threatened in the emails I posted. Entirely different from threatening lawsuit, this is just personal defense of my own character.
Sure, this individual has the right to file a lawsuit, but it won't win. This is a case where all parties should simply act like adults and go on about their business if they can't defend themselves in a public forum without resorting to terroristic behavior.
Oh, and frivolous lawsuits are against the law.

If he does have a lawyer, the lawyer has undoubtedly reminded him "The defendants in libel or defamation suits involving the Internet have enhanced First Amendment rights," "The plaintiff has to prove actual malice. In other words, the plaintiff has to show that the defendant made false statements or was negligent."
He has to prove that his own statements, not mine, were false. I believe his statements were all absolutely genuine.

Your comment was that the rich benefitted most from the stimulus. You are mistaken.
And as far as contributing, did you know that the wealthiest 1% in our country "contribute" 40% of our entire tax revenue? They also "contribute" by running businesses that employ 75% of the country. The problem is when the liberals say tax the wealthy for everything, we have fewer wealthy people to tax, increasing the burden for everybody.

Red Shirts If the red shirt thing is new to you, read below how it went for a man.
Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together.
After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home.
No, he responded. Heading out I asked?
No. I'm escorting a soldier home.
Going to pick him up?
No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq , I'm taking him home to his family.
The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn't know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the soldier's family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations in so few days.
I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, Thank you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do. Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following announcement over the intercom.. "Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign."
Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that I am proud to be an American.
So here's a public Thank You to our military Men and Women for what you do so we can live the way we do.
Red Fridays Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority." We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.
Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that .... Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women a far, will wear something red.
By word of mouth, press, & TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.
The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is. "We need your support and your prayers." Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday.

Robot - Glenn Beck is not the only one you parrot - I know you got that comment from rush limbaugh, sean hannity or some other bigot. besides, that's the kind of rhetoric any bigot with a retard's IQ can come up with. you fail yet again in your attempt to convince anyone other than NonVet that your are a genius... and wow - you continue to amaze me with your nitpickiness about your boyfriend the bush. caressing a fat old man's hand and kissing him repeatedly - yes, Robot, you are right - that is much better and less gay and less worshipful to the owner of the bush family and the american economy than a bow. and you continue to lack credibility - there is no question that bush bowed to the saudi king. there is very clear video on the internets showing he did so. look it up. loser. and besides, if you don't think the bushes and the saudies are in bed together, you really do have your head in the sand. or you are a Robot. the Saudis bailed the W out so many times on his failed oil ventures in Texas that they own him. Bush 1 and his company the carlisle group sold arms to the Bin Laden family, which is Saudi. Family friend James Baker, and Bush 2 administration official, represented the Saudi government in a lawsuit filed against them by the American victims of 9/11. as long as this country's economy is so tied to oil, american officials will continue to bow to the saudi king.

NamVet, you are right about the takings clause. The two conditions that must be met are the "property" that the government takes has to serve the public use, and the owner has the right to be fairly compensated. I suppose the Obama government intends to satisy the requirement by stipulating the "plan" is for public use, and compensation means the public option. My opinion. In any case this thing is ripe for a constitutional lawsuit. Especially since the penalty for not paying in is not only fines, but jail terms.

NamVet...I had never thought of the "tax penalty" that way. You make a very good point. I have wondered why more people aren't upset about the tax penalty.

Bob,
The reason I worded my post like that is because I was asked to explain why I think the "rich" should contribute money to the economy and why taxes are going up to pay for all of Obama's misgiven funds.
I do beleive that the fault in logic belongs to the Obama administration for the mess we are in but I also am open minded enought to know it don't take just a year to bring this country to its knees. It is an ongoing process of government free spending and war expenditures.
Like I pointed out, if this country increases to layoff workers then it changes the structure of ALL funds and taxes. With the loss of tax revenue due to unemployment comes an increase in the tax required to pay for the government expenditures.
The point I was making, was if the companies gave themselves bonuses while sending more workers on layoff then they have the stimulus funds lining their pockets and should be expected to contribute more tax since they profited off of the taxpayers (who are already forced to give to charity in the welfare, wic and humanitary aid to foreign countries that never pay back what they borrow from us).
Get real, if everyone is laidoff... the better off will have to pay more taxes eventually anyway. If the government spends 1 billion and only has tax revenue of 500 million then whoever has money will pay more taxes to make up for the other half that cannot pay.
