Of course I have some issues with some of your thoughts. I wish you, and many others who share your feelings to know that I am sick and tired of being called a racist simply based on the concept that I disagree with the president and the direction my country is going based on his policies and beliefs. Where were we when Bush was running the country into the ground? Right here. I disagree with TARP that Bush signed. Where were you when Barney Frank and the democrats responsible for the sub-prime fiasco helped to demolish the housing market and the economy? Blaming Bush? How typical. You are being misled down a troubled path if you believe in Obama “Just because he is trying” to reform health care. Do you mean the Baucus plan when you refer to Obama’s plan? I’m wondering, because presidents do not introduce legislation. You share the belief that the economy is in shambles, do you care about the value of the US Dollar? The only thing the government is efficient at is printing money, which is on its way to worthlessness. The country is not only broke, we owe trillions of dollars to ourselves and other countries. Maybe you just don’t understand how bad it is to be this far in debt… but you will when nobody accepts the USD for trade. Just keep thinking the government will “fix” everything. Let us know how that works for you.
Lets talk about your son (please thank him for his service) and his driver license in FL. I was a sailor in Jacksonville for many years, myself. You have to tell yourself that just because he serves, he must not think that he is above the law or deserves any special treatment. Florida law requires identification, proof of date of birth, proof of residential address, and proof of social security number . Period. Rules is rules. This fact is an apples to oranges comparison to the illegal alien problem. (And yes, even disabled vets have to pay their mortgages.) Did you happen to know that this administration is overwhelmingly in favor of AMNESTY? Do a YouTube search of Obama and Pelosi and amnesty and see what you come up with. They are very open on this view.
It didn’t take 8 years for us to get this bad off, my dear. It took most of Bush’s second term, where we got TARP and the sub-prime housing scam. Please don’t confuse the troubled assets themselves with Bush. Wall Street is (or used to be) a separate entity… not an arm of government.
I caution you to not just blindly buy into the “Bush did it” rhetoric that is so popular with the Progressives. Stop before you drink the Kool-Ade and start chanting “Barack Hussein Obama. Mmmmm Mmmmmm Mmmmm.”

A researcher should know that proposals are being combined by Baucus, Rahm Emanuel, et al. in a closed room in the capital into a massive spending bill which will then be voted on in the senate. This is the truth about what is happening right now. And, the white house is backing off of the public option in favor of "triggers". This has a lot of democrats pissed off.

I've only read about three pages of these, but it is clear what 'messages' on this board are about. I will post this, but doubt that I will return to such nonsense.
It is clear that most people do not like Obama because of his race, and I'm not just talking about people on here. Where were all the bashers when Bush was running this country into the ground? True, I have not gone back far enough on here to see if there was bashing, but I'm sick and tired of people running Obama down, when Bush was the one that put this Country into the toilet and flushed.
When he declared war, he had his sights set on one thing - his glory, and that is all he had on his mind the entire time he was in office when he should have been paying attention to what was going on out here. I don't know how things were down here, but where I am from, that very afternoon of 9/11 there were lines blocks long at gas stations and the price started to rise. He did absolutely, positively nothing to control those prices, which continued to rise the entire time he was in office. Well, at least not until a couple of weeks before the election for his ole buddy.
One of his election platforms was Health Care Reform, which went by the wayside. Now we have a President that is actually trying to do something about it and all ANYBODY can do is bash him for it! No, I do not agree with it totally, but at least he is trying to do something about it!! How many of you on here have had a MAJOR illness which required hospitalization? From the sounds of it, not many.
There are tens of thousands out there like myself right now - having to work a part-time job. 99.9% of the companies out there do not offer their employee's insurance that work part-time. Even if I did work full-time, the insurance which the company I work for offers, isn't worth the price I would have to pay for it. I live in fear of something major happening to me, and I should not have to live that way - nobody should! His Health Care package is not a 100% of what it's cracked up to be - but it sure beats none at all. And what many people do not realize - you will have your choice to keep your current insurance coverage or go with the other!
And Health Care Reform should be just that as well - Reform! Yes, I know what it sounds like when I suggest this, but Health Care should have limits/caps put on it! There is no need to have to pay over $300 a day for a hospital room, $10 a day for phone/TV, $5 for every Tylenol you take - do you see my point? It has been that way for years, and I'm 'quoting' prices the last time that I was hospitalized, which was approximately 15 years ago, so I'm sure they have gone up since then.
And yes,ONLY US Citizens should be able to get this coverage. I loved the one comment about stimulating the economy by shipping all the illegals back to whence they came. Could not agree with you more! My son, who is in the Navy and stationed in Jacksonville/Mayport, went to get his driver's license finally yesterday. After the man harassed him regarding his appointment, then ID (which is MILITARY issued), he had to present his birth certificate! He has a MILITARY ID for God's Sake!! The man said he didn't know if he was actually born in the US or not. There are thousand's of illegals in this country that have driver's license's, but my son had to show proof???? There are thousands of illegals that have health care in this country, but I work, pay taxes - well you see where I'm going with that.....
As far as Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize, those that bash him for that, do you think Bush should have gotten it? Obama won for bringing the Country into the 21st Century by breaking the color barrier! Clearly, again you bashing him on here are proving yourselves to be racist. Maybe Bush should have won it for driving this Country to where it is today! Maybe he should have won it for all the 'bailouts' he handed out before he left office. All those bailouts have only made our economy worse.
I have a friend that is a Disabled Vet that lived in the Atlanta area. The Government screwed up his disability/pension check last year to where he wasn't getting anything and in fact was going to have to pay back some of it. The man served in the Gulf War and is now wheelchair bound. Needless to say he was having trouble making his mortgage payment and fell behind. The Government realized their mistake, but before it could be taken care of, the Bank/Mortgage Company decided to foreclose on his house. The VA even sent a letter to this Bank/Mortgage Company explaining the situation and that they would be rectifying the situation as quick as they could and would even forward that Company a check! No go, they FORECLOSED ON THIS DISABLED VET'S HOUSE ANYWAY! The kicker? It was one of the Bank/Mortgage Companies that Bush had just BAILED OUT!!!!! I know of many more horror stories just like that. Ya, maybe ole Bush should have gotten that Nobel Peace Prize!
If Chaney/Palin had one, this Country would have been in a lot worse shape than it is now, because he would have kept running with Bush's agenda. And Chaney only chose Palin because she was a woman - clearly NOT a leader that should have been in office to begin with.
It took 8 years to get this Country into the shape it is in now. Do you all honestly think that ANYBODY could pull it back to where it was BEFORE Bush took office basically over night? Maybe you all should review your history lessons. Two years ago myself along with countless others were saying we were in a recession and headed for a depression. Our Ex-president/Government, economists and such kept saying "oh no, we are just fine". Then finally three or so months before the elections they finally admitted that yes, we are in dire straights.
I have one final thing. Do you honestly think that John Doe is inquiring about arrest records for him/herself? I know Ed(?) that you are retired from law enforcement, but there are many reason's why this person may be asking such a question. Maybe they were asking because they needed someone to come into their home to care for someone. Maybe they had a first time rental, maybe they are having problems with neighbors - the reason's are endless. To automatically assume they were asking to find out if they had any, was absolutely wrong - and to the others that assumed that as well. You are no worse than the people that like to feed on and spread rumors.
I think a lot of you should get out from behind the computer and be part of a solution - not just sit on your duff, talk about it and doing nothing to solve it!

I learn from both sides and am entitled to form my own opinions. If I doubt something I actually drag my lazy butt to find the truth, (rarely though). It used to bother me but now instead of knowing all the answers, I'll ask questions. Yep, to both the right & left! TO: Marine...Thank you and you are so right about how I love my brother but he and I disagree on several issues . Take property taxes . First , to me its hard to justify raising property taxes with declining property values . Yes , I know a big part of the tax bill was because of a increase in the school tax , my part being 71 % of the tax bill . But this is one area where he and I have had our " talks " . I just don't think anyone over 65 , as I am , should have to continue paying a school tax . He doesn't agree ( thats not him taking Rob's side , he's taking the county's side , knowing what a big hit the county budget would take . There are several other issues I don't agree with him on , but thats for another time .

Funny, I'm trying to find the finance comittee health care bill, but there isn't one. The finance comittee voted on a proposal; a draft. Even the CBO released a statement saying their cost projections will increase significantly when they score the actual bill whenever Raam Emanuell and the democrat leadership are finished merging the bills into one giant bill... behind closed doors of course and away from the light of "transparancy" we were promised by none other than the president himself.

I believe I heard I am too lazy to find a job, as some loon here wants to believe. I have been out of town for 11 days doing high-level research for top secret think tanks. Just kidding, I was out doing a job, participating in free enterprise and capitalism.
I do have time to reveal something that I knew would happen and said so on this board months ago. The stimulus had nothing to do with jobs or the economy, and the admin's reports show this:

Hmmm.
I believe there are 15 million people looking for work right now. GA alone is at 10.2% unemployment and there is NO mechanism in place today to encourage small business (you know, companies who are responsible for 75% of job creation in the country) to expand and hire new employees.
How IS that hope and change working for us??

There is nothing new about the tactics used by the big three liberals on this board. They come right from Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals (the first rule being to thoroughly discredit the conservative by any means necessary):
"The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength." For instance, Democrats call conservatives racists or that Republicans want to kill senior citizens , they imply Republicans want to deny kids lunch money without offering real proof. These red-herring tactics work.

(Trent Lott comes to mind. Meanwhile, a former Klansman by the name of Sen. How about that. Recalling a story from about 8 or 9 years ago. A gun shot was heard coming from a neighbors house while yelling was going on etc. (fighting)
We live in the sticks. One neighbor called the PCSD to let them know what had just happened and what they had heard, (the gun shot) The guy on the phone with the PCSD said and I quote, "Well ok, you give us a call if anyone is hurt." They were not coming out to that house in the middle of the night for any reason, unless someone was hurt. Will never forget that response....

As far as Abe goes, you should read up on your history. Slavery was doomed long before the emancipation proclamation, as it should have been. However, we shouldn't go around giving Abe all the credit for anyone's success just because they happen to be black. We have been down this road here before. It is OK to condemn a president's policies and affiliations without bringing anyone's race into the conversation.

Anti-Ed..I stand correcting. I can't however understand your distain for Ed. he's actually a pretty nice guy. Oh well, you certainly are entitled to opine. Just keep in mind how tough it is being a jailor. Many years of that has to be tough and I respect Ed for that. As far as people thinking Ed patronizes his Brother, that's simply not true. These words have often been attributed to Abraham Lincoln, but they are not from Lincoln's at all!!
This quote were published in 1942 by William J. H. Boetcker, a Presbyterian minister. He released a pamphlet titled Lincoln On Limitations, which did include a Lincoln quote, but also added 10 statements written by Boetcker himself.
Don't feel bad Rob, Ronald Reagan quoted this in error in front of the entire nation once... at least you are only in front of maybe a dozen people.

Well, the two boys survived being upside-down for 8+ hours and having only filthy creek water to drink on an 85 degree day and nothing to eat. They were dehydrated and in shock with cuts and bruises. My sister-in-law was not so lucky. She pasted away in the wreck.
To this day, we have yet to get an apology or explination of why the PCSD did nothing. I mean nothing until we found them ourselves. Perhaps Mr. Jones, I think he said he was a retired deputy from the department?, might be able to tell us why they didn't help or could not help even though we told three different deputies of the dire situation?
