Ms. (Debbie) Debra House, age 48 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at her residence.
Survivors include her father, Abe Hightower, Jerusalem Community; mother, Nedene Quinton, Whitestone; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Nicholas Couch, Jasper; sister, Joanne Henderson, Jerusalem Community; and grandson, Zackery Couch. Nieces, nephew and great-niece and nephew also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Elliot officiating. Interment followed at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Roger Mulkey, Danny Childers, Greg Gaddis, Andy Young, L.H. Stone and Scott Turner.
Mr. Jim Buchanan, age 79 of Marble Hill, Ga., passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Lona Buchanan, Marble Hill; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Linda Buchanan, Talking Rock, and Larry and Holly Buchanan, Marble Hill; and daughters and sons-in-law, Janice Taylor, Linda and Marco Terrell and Lisa and David Amos, all of Marble Hill. Fifteen grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and special friends of the family, Michelle and Tanya Black, also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, from Four Mile Baptist Church with the Revs. Wayne Long and Aaron Adams and Ralph Fitts officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Jerry, Randall and Larry Buchanan, Josh Amos, Steve Padgett and Nathan Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were: Jacob Edwards, Howard, Hollis and Paul Stamey and Tommy Buchanan. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the family.
Leo Heinrich Fasselt of Jasper, Ga., passed on Nov. 7, 2012, after a six month illness.
One of 11 children, he is survived by his brother, Hans Fasselt, Hicksville, N.Y.; sister, Toni Henkelmann, Deuten, Germany; wife, Gisela Fasselt; son, Loyd Fasselt, Acworth; daughter, Veronica Fasselt, Atlanta; and three grandchildren.
Born on July 2, 1932, in Deuten (near Dorsten, Germany, he began his professional career as a movie projectionist. He followed up with a three-year photography apprenticeship and graduated from college as a photographer. After immigrating to Toronto, Canada, in 1954, he worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Company. He met and married his wife, Gisela, in 1956. In 1958 they immigrated to the United States and became U.S. citizens.
Leo worked at WFLA-TV (Media General) in Tampa, Fl., where he managed the color photo/film lab. He also developed solutions for film processing, wrote numerous technical articles (including some in the Library of Congress) and was consulted as a technical expert in the motion picture field. Additionally, he served as president of the Southern Modern Picture and Television Engineers. His two children were born and raised in Tampa. In 1988 he and his wife retired to Jasper, Ga., where he grew organic fruits and vegetables and studied herbal healing and natural remedies.
Leo was a devoted Catholic throughout his life. The immediate family held a private service at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper on Nov. 7. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, Refuge Road, at Waleska Hwy. 108, Jasper, Ga. 30143.
Roper Funeral Home and Crematory of Jasper announces the death of Ms. Nancy Kay Muckala, age 50 of Kennesaw, who passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
At her request Ms. Muckala was cremated.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Muckala, Kennesaw, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Beth Alseth, Kirkwood, Mo.; and partner, Haley Bouchie, Jasper, Ga.
Roper Funeral Home and Crematory of Jasper announces the death of Mrs. Edna Lorene Watkins, age 78 of Jasper, who passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 11, 2012, at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jr. and Fredia Watkins, Hill City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester and Betty Wofford, Paul and Janet Wofford and Billy and Donna Wofford, all of Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Vertie and Randall Moody, Clayton Community; and sister-in-law, Winnell Wofford, Yellow Creek Community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Watkins; parents, Bob and Dessie Wofford; and brothers, Jackie and Glenn Wofford.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Long Swamp Baptist Church with the Revs. Scott Price, Robert Allen and Bobby Segers officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home.
