Poole murder trial to open June 2

The trial of the woman accused of murdering her husband a year ago is set to begin in Pickens County Superior Court on June 2, according to District Attorney Joe Hendricks.
In July of last year, Tammy Poole pleaded not guilty to the April 2007 murder of her husband, Robert Michael Poole. Since that time, she has been awaiting trial in the Pickens County Jail.
Michael Poole was killed with a .22 caliber gunshot wound to the head, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) medical examiner report. Tammy Poole was arrested two months after the death and charged with two counts of murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, false statement, terroristic threats, simple battery, and felon in possession of a firearm. She has pleaded not guilty to all counts against her.
Poole will be represented by the public defender’s office, with Richard Thurman acting as lead attorney. ß
