Pickens County Chamber of Commerce announced at the July Membership Breakfast that KnowPickens.com is the July Small Business of the Month. Julia Jorns with Julia Jorns, CPA, LLC and sponsor of the Small Business of the Month program awarded Owner, Mari Livsey with a framed certificate.
Julia Jorns stated, “July’s Small Business of the Month began as a solution to a frustrating problem: the difficulty of finding a phone number among the many phone books serving Pickens County.” KnowPickens.com started in 2006 with an on-line phone directory to combine all the phone providers numbers. In 2007 the effort was expanded to a Web presence for the community and online listing of local businesses.
In 2008 another expansion added an event calendar handled by Debi Lewis. Just click on that calendar and your only dilemma is deciding what to choose to do on any given day. Some of the things you might find on the site are:
• videos of many of the governmental council and committee meetings.
• countless pictures of many events happening in the county are displayed.
• links to many local websites such as: PHS Band, PCMS Bank Pickens County Recreational Department, PHS Cheerleading, Pickens County Veterans and, coming soon, Boys and Girls Club of North Georgia.
Our small business person is also on the Board of the American Red Cross, is a Marble Festival Sponsor and serves on the Chamber Public Relations Committee. Congratulations to KnowPickens.com
