The Citizen Advisory Committee is now accepting public comments about the possible move to a multi-person commission. You can submit your comment via e-mail or traditional mail, or you may bring your comment to one of three public hearings scheduled in July. Please address the following questions in your statement and include your name and contact information:
•If the voters choose to go to a different form of government, what multi-person form of government do you prefer and why? •What questions must the CAC be prepared to answer when the committee makes a specific recommendation at the public hearings to be held in October 2009?
For e-mail users, send to PickensCAC@gmail.com any comments for the CAC to take into consideration as they determine the best-suited multi-person commission structure for Pickens. You can also mail your comment to:

The CAC will be in “listen mode” for the first three hearings, but they will offer a brief primer regarding the five traditional forms of county government in Georgia. If you would like to do some research beforehand, please visit www.pickensprogress.com and click on the “Moving to a Multi-Person Commission” link for all past stories and relevant information about commission structure in Georgia. You can also visit CAC’s website at www.pickenscountyga.gov. The CAC was created in response to a non-binding referendum that appeared on the July 2008 primary ballot in which the majority of Pickens County voters expressed an interest in moving to a multi-person commission. In November of 2010, voters will decide if they want to keep a sole-commission format or transition to a multi-person board.
