Mass confusion at GOP convention

          It was a packed house at the GOP Convention Saturday, March 9. Over 140 people showed up to register in the party and vote for executive committee candidates. Delegates were seated in sections according to their district, but because of the unexpectedly large crowd more chairs had to be brought in and some districts had to be split into different areas of the room.  


     During a Mass Meeting/Convention that took over six hours due to holdups with participant check-ins, complaints raised about meeting protocol, and other issues, 23-year-old Pickens County resident Katie Cagle was overwhelmingly elected as the local GOP chair.
