Jasper seeks to double wastewater treatment

An earlier shot of the city’s wastewater plant. The city is beginning work on a plan to expand it greatly in the next several years.

Interim City Manager Jim Looney and Water Department Superintendent David Hall met with engineer Ben Turnipseed Friday to discuss what will be needed to see Jasper’s sewage capacity doubled over the next several years.

All members of the council and mayor had been invited to the meeting on short notice, but none were able to attend. Looney said several council members had been away on summer vacations.
