Tate Day offers great events this Saturday

Tate Day 2017 is happening this Saturday, November 4th. Marble Valley Friends, sponsor of the event, invites friends and other visitors to enjoy these aspects of the day:

8-10 a.m. - Tate Elementary School PTO’s Bulldog 5K run through Tate Streets;

9 a.m. - 5 p.m. - Arts and crafts vendors at Old Tate depot;

9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Traditional crafts and skills demonstrations in downtown Tate;

9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Yard sale, children’s activities, hot dog lunch at Tate United Methodist Church benefitting the students’ weekend snack program;

10 a.m. - Parade through Tate streets;

10:30 a.m. Spotlighting Four Mile Baptist Church at downtown stage

11 a.m. - 1 p.m. BBQ lunch at Old Tate Gym;

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tate School mini-class reunions at Old Tate Gym;

11:45 a.m. Memorials for deceased friends at Old Tate Gym;

11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Cake bake off in Old Tate Gym;

11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Marble Quarry tours. Purchase tickets near old Tate Drug Store;

11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Entertainment at downtown stage;

11 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Tours of Tate Elementary School, nation’s only marble school house; 

3 p.m. - Raffle drawings (including a recently announced one for a handcrafted birdhouse replica of the Tate United Methodist Church benefitting the Amicalola Garden Club and a collection of items handcrafted from Tate Marble by a local artisan). Drawings held in Old Tate Gym. 

Yes, it will be a busy day in Pickens County’s longest continuously inhabited area. But there will not be another such opportunity until November, 2018. Marble Valley Friends encourages your participation on Saturday.
