Uncool trick: Halloween slasher hits Arbor Hills home

halloween-slasherAn Arbor Hills residents got a nasty trick, no treat, this Halloween when her front yard inflatables were vandalized early Thursday morning. She is shown cleaning up her destroyed decorations accumulated over the past 20 years.

The Arbor Hills home of Joan Anderson was vandalized around 3 a.m. Thursday morning, October 27th when someone slashed four of her Halloween-themed yard decorations. The perpetrator has yet to be apprehended but did approximately $500 in damage to the home’s decorations - which have been accumulated over 20 years and are put up each year for the enjoyment of neighborhood kids.

A photo of Anderson’s home with the Halloween decorations was featured in last week’s Progress.
A Frankenstein playing the organ, pumpkin head man, a witch and a flying dragon were all slashed and the flying dragon’s motor was stomped to pieces. “It’s so sad because Joan went all the way to Stone Mountain to purchase that one,” a friend helping with clean-up said. “Joan just loves Halloween and Christmas and always puts out these decorations for  the kids to enjoy. It’s just so sad.”
Jasper City Police are investigating the crime but have no solid leads at this point. Anyone with information about the vandal is asked to contact the Jasper City Police at 706-692-9110.

It was nice of you to give your negative opinion of her decorations. I mean let's not miss the chance to kick at someone after they have been victimised. And unlike you I'm not afraid to attach my name to my post. Quoting Resident:
I live in Arbor Hills and pass this house every day and while I think this is ugly and very tacky with the amount of the displays and the fact that they are usually kept up until way after Halloween, it is still cruel for anyone to go on someones property and destroy their belongings.

Not only did they slash this poor ladies decorations she worked hard on, they knocked down a stop sign and ran over my neighbors mailbox. It's sad people are that ignorant to do childish things like this.

Resident of Arbor Hills, that was so UGLY of you. It just seems to me that was a way to get your UGLY dig into your neighbor. Why not take another street home there are plenty there.

To the person who said my mothers decorations are tacky: Go around the other side if you don't like it!! You don't have to drive by her house. Bless your heart, your life must be very dull. I hope she keep it up til Christmas. And if you don't like these you sure as hell are not going to like her Christmas ones either!! Rock on momma I will come and help you put those up!!

I hope her decorations can be repaired! The kids love them even if one grumpy resident does not!

Such a shame that people can not be respectful of others private property or of their right to decorate for a holiday and make kids smile.

I hope Mr. Resident stays in his house with the lights off Monday night so he doesn't ruin anyone's fun time. We sure wouldn't want to bother him with all of our cute and spooky Halloween costumes.

I too love in Arbor Hills and my kids beg me to go out of our way to drive past her house Bc they absolutely love seeing her Halloween and Christmas decorations. Truly sad that someone has to be juvenile and malicious. Dare we assume the perp was the same that took out a stop sign this am on the Road south side of Arbor Hills and mailboxes? Starting to feel like sitting ducks for crime.

I think the only thing tacky about this situation is your comment. These decoration s are not for you, they are for the kids. I would guaranty none of the kids think it is tacky. Arbor Hills is a great neighborhood but it sounds like you think you need to live in Buckhead. Just enjoy them. I hope the catch the no brain that did it.
