     Jasper, Georgia — The Pickens County School District is pleased to announce the promotion of Anita Walker to Principal of Jasper Middle School. Ms. Walker served as Assistant Principal at JMS since 2015.
    Ms. Walker is a native of Pickens County. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from North Georgia College and a Master’s Degree from Piedmont College. Prior to serving as Assistant Principal of JMS, she held a variety of

leadership positions such as Academic Coach and Literacy Team Member and served on the Georgia Math Advisory Council (for the Georgia Department of Education), the SACS Instructional Committee (school and district level), and the Pickens County School District Strategic Planning Committee.
    “Anita Walker strives for excellence in everything she does. She worked extremely hard to utilize the professional development opportunities provided by the district. The Board and I appreciate her unique leadership skills and know she will be extremely successful,” states Dr. Lula Mae Perry, Superintendent.
     “Ms. Walker knows this school better than anybody – the goals and plans are already in place and how to work with her team to achieve them. JMS will be in great hands,” states Todd Redman, JMS School Advisory Council member.
     “Ms. Walker is a fabulous choice to lead the middle school forward,” states outgoing Principal Shane Purdy. “I have complete confidence in her ability, and what the school will accomplish under her direction.”
    “I believe in the Pickens County School District, and I am extremely honored to be given an opportunity to lead our great team at JMS,” states Anita Walker. “So many good things are taking place at our school, and I know we will work together to reach for the highest level of success!”
