These programs are taking place at New Echota Historic Site, Chief Vann House Historic Site, Pickett's Mill Battlefield Historic site, Red Top Mountain State Park, and Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site.

   We will use simple crafting and natural materials to create native to Georgia animal puppets. Each week we will make a different Red Top Puppet Critter. A billion years in the making. Take a Geology Hike on the beautiful Iron Hill Trail. We will visit the iron pits and ochre outcrops while learning how three physiographic provinces came together to form these iron and mineral rich formations. We will walk back in time through the mining pits of the historical mining community called Crow Banks and back to the present to find out how regional ochre mines are saving lives, today. $2 per hiker.     Join us on Friday evenings at Red Top Mountain to observe the stars above us. Telescopes on hand, and you can bring your own equipment as well. We will talk about well-known constellations. Meet us at the Visitor's Center by 8:15pm to sign in. We will carpool to the Park Office/Lodge. Bring a blanket, binoculars and a flashlight with red light, we’ll provide the hot cocoa.    We are happy to invite home school families back to New Echota. This month we will be making paper, writing with quill pens, and learning a few letters from the Cherokee Alphabet. We’ll be learning about the historic legal debate that led to the removal of the Cherokee people, and of course you’ll receive a Home Schooler’s private tour of the site. Call to pre-register.
