Mary Ann’s to serve free Thanksgiving dinner

Donations, desserts sought
turkey
Owners and employees of Mary Ann’s Country Cooking are giving up part of their own Thanksgiving so needy families can enjoy a traditional Turkey Day feast at no cost.
“We are really excited to be doing this for the community this year,” said owner Mary Ann Parker, who, along with staff members will prepare and serve turkey, dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, kernel corn, rolls and dessert from the restaurant on Thanksgiving Day from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Meals will be offered dine-in, take-out and as delivery for homebound residents. Homebound residents are being asked to call ahead and schedule their delivery.
Employee Kathy Eaton said she doesn’t mind working on Thanksgiving because, “It’s the least we could do.”
“The community are the ones who keep us here, and this is for the good of the community,” she said. “Mary Ann has a big heart and wants to give back.”
If you would like to contribute to the cause, monetary donations, desserts and volunteer delivery drivers are being sought.
An account has been set up at Community Bank of Pickens County called “Mary Ann’s Thanksgiving Donations.” Donations can be deposited directly into that account.
If you would like to schedule a delivery or call regarding dessert donations contact Mary Ann’s at 706-253-2225 between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. You can also send them a message on their Facebook page.
Mary Ann’s is located at 408 East Church Street, Jasper, Ga. 30143.

These folks continue to demonstrate how to be a positive force in the community, something that is sadly fading in our society.
