New principal hired for Jasper Elementary


     Jasper, Georgia — The Pickens County School District announces the hiring of Dr. David Wilds as Principal for
Jasper Elementary School.
     Dr. David Wilds is a native of Statesboro, Georgia but has called Houston County home since 2005. He has
served as an Assistant Principal of Instruction at Lake Joy Primary School in Warner Robbins, Georgia, a very
high performing elementary school. Dr. Wilds earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and a Master of
Educational Leadership from Georgia Southern University. He received an Education Specialist in Educational

Leadership from Walden University. In addition, Dr. Wilds completed his doctoral studies in Educational
Leadership in January 2014. He was an early childhood teacher for 12 years in kindergarten, third, and fourth
grade classrooms.
     “Dr. Wilds respects and appreciates good teaching and brings a wealth of experience from his days as a
teacher in elementary classrooms. In addition, I am impressed with his knowledge of school improvement
initiatives and strategies that will support Jasper Elementary School’s continued goals for student success,”
states Dr. Lula Mae Perry, Superintendent of the Pickens County School District.
     “I understand the challenges of education – as a teacher and as an administrator. I believe in planning and
implementing professional development for teachers to ensure the latest best practices for instruction are being
employed,” states Dr. David Wilds. “Promoting teamwork and cooperation is one of my strongest leadership
abilities, and I am confident that my high level of energy and positive attitude combined with my love for
education can and will inspire others to perform at their maximum levels,” added Dr. Wilds. He and his family
love the North Georgia area and are excited about the opportunity to be part of the Jasper Elementary family.
