From pottery to handmade fishing lures and handbags, the goal of this weekend’s Jasper Art Fair is to get people in town for the art and keep them there to support local business.
“This isn’t just a yard sale,” said event coordinator Paul Poore. “We’ve got arts and crafts vendors coming from all over the place so we can bring folks to Jasper to show them what we’ve got. We want people to come to town and spend money in Pickens at our restaurants and businesses and have a good time while they do it.”
The Jasper Art Fair is sponsored by the Jasper Merchants Association and is a push to reenforce the organization’s “Shop Local” ideaology. The fair will be held Saturday, Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on D.B. Carroll Street at the intersection of Mark Whitfield Drive in downtown Jasper.
The Jasper Merchants Association invites you to come shop for unique, handcrafted items from over 30 vendors. Items will include home decor, ceramics, sculptures, pottery, handbags, jewelry, paintings, a special tent from Lakota Cove and items from various school organizations.
Admission is free and there is no cost for vendor booths. Food and drinks will be available from JMA members, as well as from ALL-A-CART Mobile Food Cart DNJ Sweet Treats.
Entertainment will be provided by WYYZ 1490 AM/The Croc.
Raffle drawings will be held at the end of the day, with gifts provided by members of the Jasper Merchants Association. Winners do not have to be present to win.
Vehicles will not be allowed to leave the site of the fair on D.B. Carroll Street at any time during the event. If you need to leave, organizers ask that you park the Stearns Bank parking lot or behind Jasper Elementary School.
