Rep. Tom Graves Supports Congressional Investigation of Planned Parenthood

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) sent a letter of support to the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Fred Upton, and the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Bob Goodlatte, following their announcement that they would investigate Planned Parenthood in the wake of recent allegations that the abortion provider is selling the organs of unborn babies.

Rep. Graves joined 126 of his colleagues in signing the letter, which was delivered this week.

“Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the nation doing over 300,000 abortions per year,” reads the letter. “While this fact is outrageous enough, we are deeply disturbed by new allegations that Planned Parenthood abortion clinics not only profit from the intentional destruction of unborn children, but also sell children’s organs piece by piece to fetal tissue brokers.  These actions are unconscionable and these horrific abuses must be stopped.”

The letter continues, “We greatly appreciate your announcement that you will be launching an investigation and urge you to act swiftly to examine current federal laws and regulations in your Committee’s jurisdiction, potential violations of current law, and identify areas where the law may be insufficient.”
