The clergy of Pickens County are eagerly preparing their very special recipes for tasting at the 5th Annual Pastor’s Pot Challenge. Jasper United Methodist Church will once again host this annual event starting at 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
You don’t want to miss the fun in tasting these delicious offerings from 15 participating area churches. We invite you to experience in the fellowship and fundraising for the Pickens community. Last year this wonderful event raised $7,500 for CARES, Community Assistance Resources and Emergency Services, providing food and financial assistance for Pickens County residents in need. Over 200 families receive assistance every week.
A $10 ticket offers each guest eight delicious tastings and then you vote for the best-ever “pastor’s pot!” Each church has a voting jar where each additional dollar adds another “vote.” There are two awards based on the monies raised, one for a big church and one for a small church. The coveted “Pot Award” for the best dish is awarded based on the most votes. Tickets are available at participating churches, Jasper Drug and at the door on Saturday, May 2nd.
This is a one-of-a-kind FUN fundraising event with delicious tastings. Food offerings this year include BBQ, Cajun shrimp pistolets, chili, Mexican tortilla soup, key lime cupcakes, bird’s nest brownies and more. And … there will be terrific “raffle” baskets filled with gift certificates to local stores, independent retailers and restaurants and more!
Saturday, May 2nd is a date for good food, music and joyful competition. Bring a friend, bring your appetite and we’ll see you there. Bon’ Appetite Y’All.
