After receiving her Master’s degree from the University of Michigan, she taught English in Misawa, Japan to the military children, where she met her husband, Lt. Col. Leon F. Papazian. They had two children, John and Virginia (Ginny). As most military families, they ended up traveling to many interesting places. Jean loved music and sang when she was in high school and college. As a young girl of 15 she recorded some songs on records (78s) for her grandmother. If you said something that reminded her of a song, she would start to sing. Later on, her grandchildren became used to the fact that “grandma” had a song for everything!”
