Mrs. Jean Boswell, age 84 of Jasper passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Canton Nursing Center.
Mrs. Boswell is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Susan Boswell of Jasper; daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Tony Kennedy of Jasper, Sandy Boswell Lowe of Jasper, and Stacy Boswell of Jasper; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at noon Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Rev. Max Caylor officiating. Entombment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum.
The family requested in lieu of flowers donate to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Christine Koppes, 91, born in James, Texas, died peacefully on February 8, 2016 after spending the previous evening surrounded by her immediate family. Her burial took place on February 13th at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. A memorial service will be held on February 28th at 2 p.m. at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Jasper, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to King of Kings Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
Christine (“Nanny”) grew up in Longview, Texas and moved to Rockwell County during her senior year of high school to work as a PBX telephone operator. It was there that she met her late husband, Joe M. Koppes. They later moved to Dallas, Texas and had three children. Christine spent her time lovingly caring for her family until her husband’s passing in 1972. In 1995, Christine moved with her family to Alpharetta, Georgia. While in Georgia, Christine selflessly helped raise her two granddaughters. Soon, Christine became Nanny to all of her granddaughters friends and it was a role she upheld with pride and joy. She spent the last years of her life living in the north Georgia mountains enjoying the wildlife and winter snows. Nanny will be missed my many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Mattie Mae; her 14 siblings, her husband, Joseph Manzo and her son, Randolph “Randy” Joseph. She is survived by her son, Donald Stephen Koppes, of Alpharetta; her daughter, Donna Kay Sadler and her husband, Keith Sadler of Jasper. She is also survived by her grand daughters, Michelle Teall of Jasper and Laura Bruton of Cartersville.
Mr. Marion “Tubby” Spence, 79, of Ball Ground passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Pruitt Healthcare in Jasper.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 22 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Frank McPherson officiating. Interment followed in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Tubby was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed knife collecting, watching NASCAR, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Western and Rachel Spence and sister, Mildred Voyles. Survivors include his wife, Anita Spence; son, Kenneth (Stacy) Spence and grandchildren, Kenleigh Spence, Brendan Spence and Chaz Bishop.

Mrs. Julie Bracken Cantrell age 50 of Woodstock, Ga died on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday February 27 from the Chapel of the Darby Funeral Home. Family will receive friends following services.

Mr. Mickey J. Andrews, age 50 of Tate, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Piedmont Hospital Atlanta.
Mr. Andrews is survived by his wife, Misty Andrews of Tate; parents, Jerry and Peggy Andrews of Tate; sons, Jake Andrews and Nate Andrews, both of Tate; step-children, Amber Burnett of Germany and Blake Belcher of Cleveland, TN.

Mr. Bill "Buckett" McCullough, age 65 of Talking Rock, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. McCullough is survived by his wife, Jennifer McCullough of Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Chasity McCullough of Dalton; step sons, David and Emily Peeples of Winterhaven, FL, Chris Loudermilk of Jasper, and Jody Loudermilk of Alabama; step daughters: Brittany Peeples of Lakeland, FL and Angie of Alabama; sister: Elizabeth Ann Walker of Ringold, GA; 11 grandchildren and close friends: Ken Hoffman of Ellijay and Stevo of Jasper.
The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17th from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Oso officiating. Interment was held February 19 at Georgia National Cemetery in Cherokee County with Local Chapter 47DAV in charge of military rights.

Mrs. Brenda Childers, age 64 of Jasper, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Childers is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Jason and Dilene Childers of Jasper and Joey Childers of Jasper; brothers and sister-in-law, Jackie and Teresa Brannon of Jasper and Randy Brannon of Jasper; sisters and brother-in-law, Teresa and Dale Stone of Calhoun and Deborah Brannon of Jasper; sister-in-law, Linda Brannon of Jasper; grandchildren, Emma Childers, Harley Childers, Billy Childers and Camron Childers; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Sims officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery (Ryo). Mrs. Frances L. Carney, age 87, of Nelson passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton. She was born August 19, 1928 to Sam and Annie Mae McCullough in Greensboro, Georgia.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jim Blankenship of Nelson, Susan and George Armstrong of Tate; grandchildren, Karla Lunsford of Ball Ground, John and Stacie Eubanks of Canton, Sarah and Eric Waldroup of Ball Ground; great-grandchildren, Blake Eubanks of Canton and Taylor Eubanks of Canton. Several other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 19 at Nelson Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Chadwick, Reverend Leroy Kelly, and Reverend Grady Cagle officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Jamie Cochran, Andrew Cochran, David Ingram, Heath Mitchell, John Eubanks, and Eric Waldroup. Honorary Pallbearers are A. C. Coleman, Gary Cochran, Jason Kirby, Charles Sinnermon, Richard Hamby, and Terry Ray.

Mrs. Ruth Bryant, age 83 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.
Mrs. Bryant is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Melvin Bryant of Jasper and Greg and Donna Bryant of Jasper; sister, Ruby Bors of Jasper; grandchildren, Christy Wilson and DeLaney Jernigan; great-grandchildren, James, Chelsea, Zoe and Ella and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 23 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Bryant and Rev. Scott Lawson officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers were James Jernigan, Greg Bryant, Zeke Beasley, Charles Jones, Allen Bryant and Wes Wilson.

Joseph Elkins, Jr.
August 9, 1947 –February 19, 2016
Abner "Joe" Joseph Elkins, Jr. (Moonhawk) departed this life February 19, 2016 after a long battle with renal disease. Joe passed at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Born August 9, 1947 in Montezuma, Georgia, Joe grew up in Byron, Ga. where he attended Byron High School. He then went on to graduate from Georgia Southern College in Statesboro with a degree in Fine Arts. Joe served in the United States Army from 1971-1973 and was stationed in Panama Canal Zone. He returned to the states and in 1975 married Lucile Pagel. The couple had three daughters. An artist in all respects, Joe won numerous awards at art shows and for the work he created while employed at the Macon Telegraph.
Joe and his family moved to Jasper in 1988 and he was selected to design many of the Marble Festival Road Race Shirts. He was a true artist and was able to give life to words, images and music. Joe Moonhawk walked to the beat of his own drum and inspired others to do the same. ~Aho~
Preceeded in death by his parents, A.J. and Willie Mae Elkins; and his sister, Patricia Joiner-Peavy. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Lucile; his daughter and son-in-law, Jess and David White; daughter and son-in-law, Emma Elkins and Jonathan Terry; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Brandon Curley; 10 phenomenal grandchildren whom he adored, Owen, Shae, Bodhi and Vivi White, Isby Terry, Lane Curley; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Earl Dorsey; brother-in-law, Johnny Pagel; several nephews, nieces and great nieces and nephews.
