Mildred Quarles
August 18, 1929 – February 2, 2016

    Mrs. Mildred Cavender Quarles, age 86, of Ball Ground passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Brookdale Assisted Living Center.
    She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roger Cavender and Tom Quarles. She retired from Georgia Marble Company and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
    She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Cavender and Hazel of Jasper, Tim and Pam Cavender of Ball Ground; sister, Mary Ruth Kelley of Ball Ground; grandchildren, Josh and Brandi Cavender of Smyrna, Lyndsey and Doug Estes of Jasper; step-children, Ann and Jim Erikson of St. Cloud, MN, Ralph and Kate Quarles of Herndon, VA; step-grandchildren, Thomas and Danielle Erikson; step-great-grandchildren, Brandon Estes and Tyler Estes of Jasper.
    Funeral Service was held at 2 p.m., February 5 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie Kelley, Reverend Johnny McPherson, and Reverend Chuck Chambers officiating.  The interment will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home.

Rita Dean
    Ms. Rita Dean, 63, of Cumming passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Northside Hospital Forsyth.
    Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at The Gathering with Pastor Ervin Smith officiating. 
    Ms. Dean was of the Baptist Faith. She loved being outdoors and working in her flower garden.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Betty Beck; and brother, Billy David Beck. Survivors include her son, Chris (Angela) Cook of Jasper; siblings, Kathy Joan Fearrington of Melbourne, FL., Lawrence (Kathleen) Beck of Jasper, Mike Beck of Jasper and Andrew Guy Burgess of Adele; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Laura Collette Billingsley
    After fighting a difficult battle with a very aggressive cancer, our sweet Laura Collette Billingsley, went home to be with The Lord during her stay at Peachtree Christian Hospice on February 6, 2016. God answered our prayers and chose to heal her completely from all sickness, pain and suffering. We will miss her tender heart for others and her love and passion for her Savior Jesus Christ. Even on her death bed she was praising God and encouraging others to follow Him.
    Her family includes her daughter, Meghan Faircloth; her three grandchildren, Olivia, Raelyn and Tate; her mother, Lois Howard; her brother, Mike Collette and sister, Tami Collete.     We rejoice for Laura and can't wait to see her again in heaven. Her desire was to be cremated. Her memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel in Alpharetta, Ga on February 21 at 3 p.m.

Deborah Lefevers
April 2, 1963 – February 5, 2016

    Ms. Deborah Kay Lefevers, age 52, of Fayetteville passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.
    Ms. Lefevers was preceded in death by her parents Dewey and Frankie Lefevers.
    She is survived by her brother, Kenny Blackwell of Murphy, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jaynel Lefevers of Fayetteville, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Dewey and Sherion Lefevers of Senoia, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Lisa Lefevers of Jasper, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Jesse and Nicole Lefevers of California, J.T. and Rachel Winslett of Savannah, Georgia, and Dapney and Jason Riddle of Griffin, Georgia.
    A graveside service was held 3 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Lake Forest Memorial Park with brother Jerry Lefevers officiating.  Interment followed at the cemetery.

Denny Young
February 25, 1948-February 5, 2016

    Dennis Michael Young, 67, of Jasper, Georgia died Friday, February 5, 2016. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a retired Family Therapist and Counselor, South Carolina State Mental Health Administrator and then an International Sales Consultant for construction equipment and boat lifts.
    He served in the Air Force over six years training with flight simulators. Additional education included a BA at the University of Tampa in Psychology, a MA from the University of Florida in Counseling and PH.D. Didactic completed in Education at University of South Florida.
    Here in Jasper, Denny continued to serve his community in The Preserve at Sharp Mountain, The Sheriff's Auxiliary, Citizen's Academy and Caring Paws Pet Therapy. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, boating and fishing with family and friends.
    With Caring Paws, Denny trained his West German Shepard, Diesel, to be the only pet/ handler credentialed to pull a cart for people to ride in special events. Diesel and Denny were on staff at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, Shriners Hospital, Veterans Hospital and Grandview Nursing Home. They visited bereavement children's camps, schools and libraries.
    Denny married Deanna Workman December 11, 1996 at a family Christmas event. He is survived by Jennifer Young 08/23/1970 born in Florida and Meredith Walters 10/22/1976 born in Alabama and resides in Phenix City with son-in-law Nathan. Denny's grandsons are Chase, 18, Dawson, 10 and Greyson, 5. Siblings are two brothers in Georgia, Jim in Gainesville and Ray in Lilburn. Sisters are Mary in Texas and Barbara in Washington, DC. Father-in-law, Archie; sister-in-law, Tara; niece, Tessa and nephew, Levi live in central Florida.
    Arrangements include visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. and a Memorial Service to follow from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 13 at Roper Funeral Home; 206 Holly Street. Denny has been cremated and his ashes will later be buried at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
    Georgia Mountains Hospice provided exceptional care to ensure comfort at home. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to them indicating it is a gift in memory of Denny Young.

Rebecca Crump
    Mrs. Rebecca Crump, age 75 of Jasper passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at her residence.
    Mrs. Crump is survived by her husband, Jimmy Crump of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Cheryl Temple of Oregon; daughters, Sandra Temple of Jasper and Lisa Lewis of Tampa, FL; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
    The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Stewart officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. 
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ruth House.

Olan Foster
July 24, 1952 - February 7, 2016

    Mr. Olan Foster, age 63 of Jasper passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
    Mr. Foster is survived by his wife, Jeannie Howard Foster of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Toni Foster of Winder; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Austin Jones of Suwanee; step daughter, Rebecca Godfrey of Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Diane Foster of Alabama; step grandson, Justin Godfrey of Jasper; step great grandson, Evan Godfrey of Jasper; niece, Abra Phillips and nephew, Jon Foster, both of Alabama.
    The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Howard officiating. Interment at Lake Forest Memorial Park with military honors.  Serving as pallbearers were Joshua Foster, Jonathan Foster, Austin Jones, William Aikens, James Thompson and Justin Godfrey.

Blondine Bannister
    Miss Blondine Bannister, 81, of Ball Ground passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Woodstock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
    Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Mica Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Estes officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Broughton and Dell (Sperin) Bannister; stepmother, Iva Gentry Bannister; stepbrother and his wife, Kenneth and Pat Gentry; and step nephew, Adam Gentry.  Survivors include her aunt, Joyce Bannister; stepbrother and wife, Marlon and Mary Gentry; two step nieces; two step nephews; a host of step great nieces and nephews and step great-great nieces and nephews; and 16 cousins.
    The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
