Geraldine Stewart

January 4, 2016

    Mrs. Geraldine “Jeri” Stewart, age 82, of Talking Rock passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper. 
    She is survived by her husband, Rembert Stewart of Talking Rock; daughters, Sheila Butler of Talking Rock, Phylis Stewart of Talking Rock; brother, Danny Thomason of Calhoun; sister, Nora Bunch of Jasper; brother, Homer Thomason of Stone Mountain; grandchildren, Michael and Melissa Butler of Jasper, Christi and David Lawson of Talking Rock, Jana and Jason Holland of Talking Rock, Cassie and Brett Walburn of Fort Walton; and nine great-grandchildren.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    She was preceded in death by son, Philip Stewart.
    Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 7 at County Line Baptist Church with Reverend Jess Posey officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
    Arrangements were entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper.

Judy West
    Mrs. Judy Ann West, age 64 of Jasper died Sunday, January 10, 2016.
    Mrs. West was born June 10, 1951 in Atlanta to the late George W. and Eugenia Stamey Tidwell. She worked as a teacher for daycare and was a member of the University Baptist Church in Brookhaven, Ga.
    Survivors Include: husband, Earl West, of Jasper, GA; sons, Mark West and Michael West, both of Jasper, GA; niece, Angie Woods, of Buford, GA; grandson, Nathan West, of Panama City, FL.
    Funeral Services were held Wednesday January 13th at 3pm from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Ladford officiating. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery.

Junior Goss
    Mr. Junior Goss, 68, of Talking Rock passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at his residence.
    Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 14 from the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jess Posey and Rev. Eddie Rhodes officiating.  Interment will follow in Ponder Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
    Mr. Goss was a roofer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors, but most of all spending time with his family.
    Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Bessie Goss and sister, Margaret Goss. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Debbie Goss; children, Wanda (Richard) Jones, Patty (Bobby Reed) Goss, Carol (Keith) McNeese, Joe (Shirley) Goss, Shane (Anna) Godfrey, Rhonda (Jeff) Waggoner and Jamie (Alyssa) Goss; sister, Peggy Godfrey; 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Nora G. Hales
Aug. 3, 1920 - Jan. 8, 2016

    Nora G. Hales, age 95 of Jasper passed away Friday, January 8, 2016 at her residence.
    She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Don and Janie Hales of Woodstock and Douglas and Sharon Hales of Wyoming, Rhode Island, daughter Sharon Little of Jasper, sisters-in-law Helon and Donald Hammontree of Jasper and Eaver Chadwick of Canton, grandson Jason and Natalie Hales of Decatur, great-granddaughter Rowen Hales of Decatur, and many nieces and nephews.
    The funeral service was held on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Bob Whitfield officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers that served were Jason Hales, Ronald Hales, Stephen Hall, Joe Cagle, Mike Cagle, and Ted Chadwick.
    The family did accept flowers or donate to Joy House or Refuge Baptist Church.

William Watson
August 19, 1955 –
January 5, 2016
    Mr. William Carl Watson, age 60, of Powder Springs passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta, Georgia.
    Mr. Watson is survived by his mother, Dorothy Watson formerly of Ranger; brothers, Alexander Watson of Villa Rica, Ricky Watson of Saltillo, Tennessee; sisters, Gloria Parker of Jasper, and Gail Castanon of Rialto, California.  Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
    Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral.  Interment followed at Bethel Church Cemetery. 
    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a trust fund for a family in need – Dorothy Watson at Regions Bank.

Robert Coggins
January 3, 1948 –
January 9, 2016
    Mr. Robert Leslie Coggins, age 68, of Big Canoe passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
    Mr. Coggins was born January 3, 1948 to John Robert and Billie Jean Coggins in Atlanta.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
    He is survived by wife, Marsha P. Coggins of Big Canoe; daughters and sons-in-law, Shae and Steve Cooper of Cumming, Shelley and Andrew Hill of Aiken, South Carolina; sisters, Pat Yurman of Douglasville, Donna Sims of Waco; and six grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
