Jackie Puckett

Jackie Puckett, age 70 of Waleska, Ga passed away on December 24, 2015. The funeral service was held on Sunday, December 27 at 2 p.m. at Waleska First Baptist Church. Rev. Jamie Powell and Rev. Aaron Land officiated. 

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Puckett; daughter, Kim and son-in-law Jay Worsham; son, Eric Puckett; grandchildren, Trey, Tyler, Jackson, and Hayden; and sister, Barbara Hulsey. 

Jackie was a life long member of the Waleska community where he was well known for his summer garden and dedicated service to others. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Waleska First Baptist Church Building Fund, 10657 Fincher Road, Waleska, GA 30183. Robert Jarvis

Reverend Robert Lewis Jarvis, age 80 of Jasper, passed away on December 26, 2015 at his residence. 

The funeral service was held Sunday, December 27th  at 4 p.m. at Bethel Tabernacle located at 13417 Fincher Road, Canton. Interment was held at Georgia National Cemetery. 

Survivors include wife Maxine Jarvis of Jasper; son, Timothy & Kimberly Jarvis of Jasper; daughter, Stephanie Jarvis of Jasper; daughter, Tonya & Steve Moon of Acworth; brother, Ray & Doris Jarvis of Smyrna; brother, Randal & Cheryl Jarvis of Alpharetta; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Tabernacle at 13417 Fincher Road, Canton, GA 30114.

Willie Godfrey

Mrs. Willie Lee Godfrey, age 80, of Calhoun, Georgia went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Willie was born December 23, 1935 in Bartow County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Jim Nathaniel and Ada Smith Nicholson. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, J.R. Romine and several brothers and sisters. Willie worked many years at Lacey Mills and was a member of Black Knob Baptist Church in Pickens County. Her life was a testimony of a life lived for her Lord and was never known to speak a bad word about anyone.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Hoyt Godfrey of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Sammy Lee and Linda Gail Godfrey of Calhoun, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana Romine, Judy Ann and Ronald Mauldin, all of Calhoun, Tammie and Mark Pankey of Chatsworth, Ga., Tracy and Jason Wilson of Ranger, Ga.; sister, Melody Montgomery of Calhoun, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Willie Lee Godfrey will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Ponders Fairmount Chapel with Reverend Bobby Timms and Reverend Randall Chastain officiating. She will be laid to rest at Johnson Cemetery with Mark Holt, Jason Randolph, Hayden Randolph, Morgan Holt, Kalem Clark, Jeff Romine, Chris Godfrey and Bryson Romine serving as pallbearers.

Lillie Bell Shoemaker

July 20, 1921 - 

December 27, 2015


Mrs. Lillie Bell (Ma) Shoemaker, age 94 of Canton, passed away at Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton on Sunday, December 27, 2015.

She is survived by her son, J.W. Shoemaker of Canton; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn and Roger Beck of Marble Hill and Martha Pearson of Canton; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Yellow Creek Baptist Church with Revs. Gene Hyde and Jeff Wilkie officiating. Interment at Yellow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The following served as pallbearers: Ralph Blackwell, Phil Blackwell, Owen Gibson, Lane Gibson, Kenny Dobson, and Ricky Dobson.
