Mrs. Clara Kathryn Cochran, 82, of Jasper passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 18, 2015 from the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Franklin King and Rev. Randy Cloer officiating. Interment followed in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Cochran was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and writing poetry. She loved spending time with her family and serving the Lord.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rembert C. Cochran; children, Debra Cochran, Jane Atkins, James Cochran, Jackie Silverman and Charlene Robinson; siblings, Earl Smith, Dorothy Bowen and Bertha Cantrell; grandchildren, Alan Atkins, Jill Weaver, Ashley Cochran, Katlyn Robinson, Christen Manley and Adam Silverman; great grandchildren, Addison Manley, Landon Atkins, Alaina Hill, Jacob Manley and Caydyn Manley; several nieces and nephews.

Fred Williams passed away peacefully on Sunday December 13, 2015 at the age of 67.
Fred is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patricia; his mother, Helen (Banny) Williams; his daughter, Farrar Williams and her husband, Peter Orvetti; son, Jonathan Williams and wife Mary; step-daughter, Kris Montgomery and husband Marc; step-son, Gregg York; his sister, Barbara Sherman and husband, John; his nieces, Teka Long and family and Wendy LeMaster and family; his uncles, Joe Hickox and wife, Carolyn; John Hickox, Ray Williams and his wife, Robbie, Cecil Williams; aunts, Faye Pressley and husband, Bo, Frankie White; and his grandchildren, Porter Orvetti, Miles Orvetti, Chelsey Scott, Taylor Ramsey, Nicole Germaux, and Jessi Yingling.
Fred was born on January 20, 1948 in Crisp County Georgia to John and Helen Williams. He attended Georgia Tech with an athletic scholarship. After college he made Atlanta his permanent home where he started his own company building tennis courts. His career path took him into a variety of self-made sales positions including VP of Sales for Delloitte Consulting. In 2007 he retired as Senior Business Developer from Jefferson Wells.
In 2005, he and his wife, Patricia, made their permanent home Big Canoe, Georgia where Fred became an active member of the Big Canoe Chapel and was president of the Big Canoe Chapel Cemetery Board. Besides his love for his family and friends, his passions included serving as commissioner of the Big Canoe Men’s Pool Group; turkey hunting; golfing; poker tournaments; backgammon tournaments; bridge tournaments; all varieties of fishing.
A graveside service was held December 18 at the Big Canoe Cemetery – a memorial service to celebrate Fred’s life followed at the Big Canoe Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be sent to the American Cancer Society designated Research, or Ducks Unlimited or Music Mission Kiev.
Arrangements were entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory in Jasper.

Mrs. Lois Cowart Kelley, age 91 of Ball Ground, GA died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Canton Nursing Center in Canton, GA.
Lois was born February 16, 1924 in Marble Hill, GA to the late Joe Brown Cowart and Nora Darby Cowart.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Willie Hubert Kelley, and six siblings: John, Mary, Grace, Mamie, Pauline, and Thelma.
Lois graduated from Pickens County High School in 1941 and later Marsh Business School in Atlanta. During WW II and prior to the birth of her son she worked in the bookkeeping department of Write Right Paper Company. Lois and Hubert were founding members of the Lakeview Baptist Church in East Atlanta and active in various church ministries over many years.
Survivors include her son, Mike Kelley (Patty) of Atlanta; grandson, John Kelley (Trish) of Roswell and great-grandson, Joe Kelley; brothers-in-law, Clarence Barnes (Pauline) and J.B. Ridings (Thelma); several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Jarrett officiating. Interment followed in Four Mile Baptist Church Cemetery.
Special thanks to the caring staff and leadership of Comfort Keepers of Cumming, GA, as well as Joe Jennings of Ball Ground, who made-it-possible for Lois to continue living independently in her home. Thanks as well to the end-of-life support and guidance of Hospice.

Harold Lynn Keener, age 52, of Jasper, Ga. passed away on December 16, 2015. He was born on January 23, 1963 to Harvey and Mary Mullins Keener.
He is survived by daughters, Amanda Workman of NC and Casey Keener of Woodstock, GA; brothers, Leroy Keener of Raleigh, NC and Larry Keener of Talking Rock, GA; sister, Betty Raines of Calhoun, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Julia and Ron Mooney of Talking Rock, GA, Sherry and Bill Cody of Jasper, GA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a special aunt, Cleo Silvers of Nelson GA. Harold was preceded in death by his brothers; Harry Keener, Roy Keener, and Michael Keener; sister, Wanda McTaggart and niece, Tammy Mooney.
Services were held on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Sanford and Rev. Wallace Parks officiating.

James A. Weatherby, aged 82, of Jasper passed away December 15, 2015. He was born in Wilson, NC, and served his country honorably in the US Army and was stationed in Korea during the conflict. He was a member of Holy Family Episcopal Church in Jasper and the American Legion in Ellijay. He retired from The Equitable Insurance company in Atlanta. Jim is survived by his loving wife Joyce Weatherby, and his daughter, Marget Weatherby, both of Pickens County and his two grandchildren, four step-children and 35 step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his many friends at Cameron Hall Assisted Living in Ellijay.
A memorial service will be held at Cameron Hall Assisted Living in Ellijay on Monday, December 28th at 10:30 a.m., followed by an American Legion procession to Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA where a graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm.

Mr. Gerald “Jerry” Wilson, age 88, passed away at Wellington Regional Hospital in Palm Beach County, Fla. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sharon Wilson of Kansas City, KS., Patrick and Mary Wilson of St. George, Utah, JJ and Nela Wilson of Romania, Burt and Kelley Stephens of Lake Worth, Fla., and Gregg Stephens of Lake Worth, Fla.; daughters and son-in-law, Jeannie Wilson Phillips of St. George, Utah, Tanya Rietwyk of Loxahatchee, Fla., Sabrina and Tom Shipley of Talking Rock, Ga. and 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceeded in Heaven by his wife Joyce Wilson, his brother Olan Wilson and sister Phyllis Burkhart.

Mr. Lewis Laimon Shelnutt, age 85, of Jasper, passed away at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper on Saturday, December 19, 2015.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Shelnutt of Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn Barnette of Jonesboro, Lisa Autry of Eatonton, Cindy and Jeff Clough of Sharpsburg, and daughter-in-law, Kay Shelnutt of Jonesboro; brothers-in-law and spouses, Vernon and Leisa Wright of Merritt Island, Fla., Chris and Jackie Wright of Marietta, Larry and Judy Wright of Carrollton; sister-in-law, Faye Shelnutt of Morris Town, Tn.; aunt, Beryl Knight of Alexander City, Ala.; grandchildren, Katie and Brook Collins of Bishop, Ashley Barnett of Marietta, Blair Shelnutt of Smyrna; two great-grandsons, Mack and Jake Collins; several nieces and nephews.
Laimon was preceeded in death by his son, Lamar Shelnutt; three brothers, Robert, Julius and Hugh; two sons-in-law, Bob Barnette and Ted Autry.
The service was held at Jasper First Baptist Church at 1 p.m., Tuiesday, December 22 with Rev. Greg Pope officiating. Interment followed at Lake Forest Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Gideon.

Mr. Charles B. Higgins, age 60 of Jasper, passed away at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Higgins of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Jason Segers of Talking Rock; brother, Don Higgins of Newnan, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Gary Holliman of Jasper; granddaughter, Katelyn Segers and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Revs. Grant Wade, Alan Caylor and James Thomason officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Barbara Allen Larson, age 84 of Statesboro, Ga. passed away at her home in Jasper, Ga. on Monday, December 14, 2015 after more than 12 years of suffering from Parkinson’s Disease and Fibromyalgia.
She was an administrative assistant for several years at Berry and Dekalb colleges, and an excellent wife, mother, cook and secretary. She spent most of her life in ministry with her husband, a pastor in the United Methodist Church. Her ready smile, wit and sincere saintly personality touched many people and resulted in at least two men becoming preachers.
She is survived by her husband, Reverend Alfred J. Larson; sons, Phillip Wayne of the home, Dr. Brett Allen of Savannah; daughter and son-in-law, Toni Marie and Chauncey Waters of Jasper; grandson, SPC Cory Gabriel Dey and his wife Kirsten, stationed in Missouri; unofficial adopted daughter, Bonnie Burgamy of Franklin, NC and sister, Hilda Battle of Snellville, Ga.
A memorial service will be held at the Jasper United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016.

Mr. James George Edmondson, age 92 of Nelson, Ga., passed away in Nelson on Thursday, December 17, 2015.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty Holcomb Edmondson, of Nelson; and his son, J.L. Edmondson of Atlanta and Jasper; his granddaughter, Kelley Edmondson Beiboer, her husband and two children; and his granddaughter, Alexandra Edmondson Martinez, her husband and three children; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the devoted son of the late Anson and Ellen Edmondson of Canton, Ga. and a loving brother to his late brother and sister, J.D. and Juanita.
Funeral services, with military honors, were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with The Reverend Charles Cook officiating.

Mr. Larry Anglin, age 74 of Ellijay, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Pruitt Health Care in Blue Ridge.
He is survived by his son, Lamary Anglin of Ellijay; daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Roger Williams of Ellijay and Nancy and Kevin Lewis of Jasper; brother, Truman Anglin of Woodstock; sisters, Hope Koehler of Dawsonville, Roxie Nichols of Dawsonville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Shane Lewis, Jesse Lopez, Mathew Lewis, Alan Duren, Harley Henson and Mitcheal Daniels.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Rev. David Stripland officiating. Interment was held at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
