Bertie Benson
    Mrs. Bertie Lee Benson, 83, of Ball Ground, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Wildwood Healthcare in Talking Rock.
    Funeral services were held at  2 p.m. Tuesday, October 27 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. J.T. Childers officiating. Interment followed in Four Mile Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Mrs. Benson was a retired LPN with Cherokee County Schools and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Benson; parents, Walter and Lettie Wofford; daughter, Sandra Hicks and siblings, Winston Wofford and Myrtle Collis; Survivors include her son, Miles Crowe; brothers, Elbert Wofford, J.D. Wofford, James, Wofford, Sammy Wofford and William Wofford; grandsons, Shane Hicks, Clayton Hicks and Corey Hicks; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Aline McMurrain
October 28, 1922 –
October 21, 2015

    Mrs. Edna Aline McMurrain, age 92, of Jasper passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Rock Creek Manor in Jasper.  She was born October 28, 1922 to the late William Roscoe and Edna Bell Payne in Cherokee County.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. M. T. McMurrain.
    Mrs. McMurrain is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Marsha McMurrain of Roswell; daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Gary Cochran of Rome, Kathleen and Larry Clark of Kingston; grandchildren, Lindsey Beville, Cameron Clark, Kimberly McBurnett, David McMurrain, Melinda Wiser, Michele Leibee, Elyse Spector; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
    The funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 23 at Jasper First Baptist Church with Reverend David Stuart and Reverend Greg Pope officiating.  Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. 
    Arrangements were entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper, Georgia.

Lewis May, Jr.
December 30, 1939 –
October 18, 2015

    Mr. Lewis E. May, Jr., age 75, of Jasper passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper. Mr. May was born on December 30, 1939 to Lewis E. May, Sr. and his wife, Vada Moore May.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Combat Controller.
    He is survived by his wife, Deborah May of Jasper; sons, Lewis E. May, III of Denver, Colorado, Martin May of Hampton, Virginia; daughter, Cynthia McClain of Virginia Beach, Virginia; step-daughters, Amy Bishop of Jasper, Kelly Kirik of Jasper, Amanda Johnson of Alabama, Kim Chambers of Jasper; brother, Charles “Chuck” May of Bloomington, Indiana; grandson, Forrest Lehmkuler; and eight step-grandchildren.
    The funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Thursday, October 22 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Stewart officiating.  Interment followed at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia with full military honors. 
    Arrangements were entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper, Georgia.

Antoinette Haynes
August 6, 1965 -
October 23, 2015
    Antoinette “Toni” Haynes, age 50, of Jasper died Friday, October 23, 2015 at her home.
    She is survived by her husband, Jamie Haynes of Jasper; daughter, Jessica Mitchell of Jasper; brother, Anthony Caputo of Tennessee; grandchildren, Logan Mitchell, Leland Birchfield, Levi Birchfield, and Liam Birchfield; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Telete and Rodney Wheeler of Jasper and Delores Haynes of Jasper.  Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
    Funeral Services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 25 in the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Thompson officiating.
    In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Toni Haynes Memorial fund.
    Arrangements were entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper.

Don Langston
    Don Langston, age 80 of Woodstock, Ga. passed away Thursday October 22, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday November 1 from the chapel of Darby Funeral Home with Dr. C.R. Hill officiating.
    He is survived by his sons; Kenneth Andrew "Andy" (Tanya) Langston, Jasper and Peter Donald Langston, Cleveland; 2 grandchildren, Alexander Carlton Langston and Zachary Tate Langston; sister, Ellen Langston Broom; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Irene Murray, Toccoa, Ga. and several nieces and nephews.         Don is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years; Mary Jane Sheriff Langston; brothers, Marvin D. Langston, Royce C. Langston, Charles G. Langston and Norman E. Langston.
    Mr. Langston had a 51 year career with Beck & Gregg Hardware Company serving as President and General Manager of the company, President of the Sporting Association, Board of Directors Southern Hardware Golf Association and the Rotary Club.

Barry Chastain
    Mr. Barry Chastain, age 61, of Tate, GA passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Northside Hospital Cherokee.
    His is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sherry & Ron Levine, Kennesaw and three nieces, Erica Levine, Jasper, Stephanie Whitfield, Acworth and Kimberly Hanson, Huntsville, AL.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Rev. Milton Fountain officiating.  Interment followed at the Free Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
