Pets of the Week for April 30, 2015

A tax deductible cash donation to Pickens Animal Rescue or The Animal Control Shelter of Pickens County in someone=s name would make a wonderful birthday, anniversary, memorial or special occasion present and would help make sure no Buddy is left behind. A donation of food, money, toys, or supplies will make a big difference in the lives of homeless pets.  Volunteers are also needed. All donations go to help the pets.  Contributions are accepted every day at the Pickens County Shelter, PAWS on Main and the PAR Rescued Furniture Store.

If you are looking for a loyal and fun companion, a buddy for one of your pets, someone to talk to, take rides with, or hold in your lap, please consider one of the following pets who needs a forever home to fill with laughter and love.

Volunteers are welcome and needed.  Please stop by the Shelter and sign up for a time and activity to help with the animals.  They and the staff appreciate it.

The Adoption Fee is $90.00 for most dogs.  Inquire about the two for one specials ($45 each) and the sponsored pets (free to qualified homes).  Most cats and kittens are free to qualified homes.  Check with the staff for details.   The adoption fee includes shots and spay or neutering.  Find out more about adopting pets at The Shelter at or:

VINNY—Cattle dog mix male dog
Hello, I am Vinny a one-year old beautiful and sweet dog.   Although I am a cattle dog I really prefer running and playing in a big backyard rather than being with cows.   I also like to play with other dogs and older children.  I weigh about 40 pounds—just the right size for going for rides and walks with you.

It would be nice to visit with you here at the Pickens County Animal Control Shelter.  I hope you will come meet me and all my cat and dog friends here.  Everyone is looking for a forever home to fill with love and laughter.

Visiting hours are 12:00 PM B 5:00 PM Tuesdays through Fridays and 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday. No appointment is required.  If you can, please donate cleaning materials, pet food, and pet supplies to the Shelter. (Vinny photo by Ashley Evans)

Find out more about pets available at PAR for adoption at or at 706-692-2772.  The adoption fee is $150 for dogs and $100 for cats and includes, micro-chipping, spay/neutering and all shots.
LOLA—a two-year old shepherd mix female dog
Hi! I am Lola a very bright (in more ways than one) young dog.   I have a bright shiny, mostly white, short hair coat with just the right amount of tan and black highlights.  And I have a bright mind and personality.  I am house trained, I walk well on a leash, I will sit and pose for you, and I love kids.  In fact I love everyone.  I could fill your home with loads of love and laughter.

I hope you will come visit me soon at the PAR Ranch.  I have made lots of dog and cat friends here.  And all of us are ready to fill someone=s home and life with love, companionship, and joy.

You can see more pictures of all of us on or at

All the animals at the PAR Ranch are healthy, happy, spayed or neutered, and current on all their shots. Visiting hours are Tuesday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 4:00PM and Saturdays 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Appointments are not required.
